Lovema75 fund

Right guys and girls- I don't know David but I am up for helping a fellow brethren when the chips are down. I propose we all throw in a few quid each to get him another 75, the guy will save you a hundred times this in garage fees with his advice. I am not sure how to go about it but I will start the fund off with 25 quid.

seancar 11th April 2014 22:07

Stick me in for the same worth every penny.

trikey 11th April 2014 22:08

Set up a paypal fund, some from me too :)

T-Shirt 11th April 2014 22:27

I would be more than happy to put a few quid in as well, but I really think it should be cleared with David first to make sure he is ok with it

DAS68 11th April 2014 22:30

Mine is [email protected] seancar will vouch for me as people don't know me that much on here. Let's make this happen guys 500 quid is the target

Ok, but he did say he was looking for a cheap or free car so if we give him that then he has agreed to it?

seancar 11th April 2014 22:32

Its easy dont worry just send everyone who offers your paypal email and they can then gift over what ever they want to give. Then just make a post saying a thank you to who ever and a running total. We dont need to know who has given what just how much we have in the kitty.
Come on you lot its a good cause even a pound will help us here. David is worth his weight in gold to this club, I will donate my time 7f we need to do any work on the car free of charge.

Done, come on guys

Hantsdave 11th April 2014 22:45

I like this idea but do we know which model 75 he wants?

If he's short of cash he may be better off with a 50mpg+ diesel... etc..

My niece has asked me to sell her V6 connie for her for not much, I'd be happy to let it go cheap if it would help.

Cheers

Dave.

An interesting point, as we all know its not just the cost of buying a car, but all of its running costs too.

Hi Sean,

Its a Silver 2.0 V6 Connie. 51 plate.
Tax expired Dec (on SORN), MOT expired last week.
Approx 110,000 miles.
Last advisory listed N/S ball joint dust cover split, play on N/S steering arm, N/S front drop link dust cover split.

I drove it back from Cardiff to Hampshire in November and it didn't miss a beat. It has a tow bar. Body work in pretty good nick. Seat backs need tidying up and the biggest drag is the cruise control isn't working.

There are lots of garage bills for clutch etc. well over a grand in total.

I was going to do it up and sell it for 600 ish but I'd let it go as is for 400.

I hope this helps in deliberation.:D

Cheers

Dave.

Mikeal1 11th April 2014 23:07

Seancar's original thread has been shut down so I'm glad to have found this, I'm in for £25, what the club needs is more Lovema's and less PM bullying cowards.
Moderators pleases note, if you are not careful membership will drop faster than the number of 75's on the road.

Perhaps, but I know he's had an auto box before and had problems with it. However a manual version can also prove problematic as we know.

Lovema, I've been there but never got this level of support, for goodness sake swallow your pride and accept. It's not charity, just decent human beings repaying another decent human being with thanks.

Here's a compromise, if you won't accept this as an offer of a gift, treat it as a long term interest free loan, if it makes you feel better to promise to repay as and when you can afford, none of want it but will accept your view.

There's plenty of decent Tourers on Autotrader now at budget prices, they might look expensive to you now but when you are back on your feet they'll seem cheap.

If you turn this offer of support down the bullies have won, for goodness sake don't let them win.

DAS68 11th April 2014 23:48

Not many of us have!!! It's about paying it forward, when something nice is done to you then pay it forward to another, no charity involved as for me I rape and pillage this forum for information everyday and when I get an answer it's from someone like David, that is paying it forward!

My post was about my belief whatever you put into life you get tenfold back, put in something good and it's repaid tenfold, put in something bad and the you get an equal level of repayment.
Lovma has put in a lot of good, so deserves a tenfold repayment, so just I just offered him an option if he can't see he deserves our repayment.

He can not thank you all so much he cant believe it. In fact shocked close to tears.
He will be at the pol tomorrow and to be honest he is worried as he does not know what to say to people. He us gob smacked,
Now its a cdt tourervwe are after for him, reason are as follows
Cdt cheaper to run
Tourer for work which again I understand, david wants ti get back on his feet. So with a saloon he cant do this, trailer is outthe question again not davids doing he has to park on the road, so some one would nlck the trailer.
Thank you all agaiin

Ok.............here is my contribution.................I have a 2002 1.8t just passed the MOT last week.
I was going to sell it at £800.
I will be quite happy to let it go for half that if he wants it.
It has OOODLES of history.....headgasket done, belts done clutch done and turbo replace by me.......It just needs the exhaust changing which i have in the post and ...HOPEFULLY....the down pipe and flexi from Sean.

This is the car in question.....

scorpio stu 12th April 2014 11:10

Donation made, wish it could have been more. Let's hope we raise enough to get him a decent car, a years insurance and tax. We all need a leg up sometimes and hats off to all of you.

Oh well, it was only a thought.:duh:

To anyone else.....£600...........or if it goes on the bay .... £800

scorpio stu 12th April 2014 11:13

I remember corin aka messenger had a diesel tourer he got from Pete tourer and remember he has it up for sale

rich17865 12th April 2014 11:25

I know David is interested in my tourer, I am sure it would do him well, but he couldnt afford it.

I have already offered it to him at a hugely reduced price, perhaps with this fund he can get enough together.

Tax until end of October and mot until December, absolutely nothing wrong with it. An ideal keeper that needs no work.

Seafrost 12th April 2014 11:28

Well done everyone, count me in, payment sent. Lovema75... you are too well liked around these parts to not be part of the furniture I'm afraid, so you are here to stay my friend.

How much are you offering it to David for Rich?

£850 is what I had offered it to him for.

We are up to 579 in the pot so far

Cockaa 12th April 2014 11:38

That's a very kind offer but he really wants a diesel by the sounds of it

rich17865 12th April 2014 11:43

Diesels are notorious for expensive repair bills, plus with petrol at 10 pence per litre cheaper, the difference in fuel consumption is negligible.

Remember my car needs nothing with all major jobs done recently.

This looks half tidy for the money guys

Sorry Rich but I have seen far more petrol owners with issues than Diesels on the forums... from what I read I would not have a petrol personally.

Radiomarko 12th April 2014 12:06

Like many others I know exactly what being put down and out feels like...

The generosity and just plain love for a fellow human being shown here moves me to tears. It easily balances out anything said by a trillion haters.

I'm brassy skint after saving to fix my fans but I'll gladly send a few quid.

Good luck Dave! :D

This is probably true, maybe as there are more petrol 75's? I do not know for sure what the actual numbers are, Im sure someone will, but "for me", cost wise, a petrol is the cheapest to run on a budget with limited mileage usage.

I do know that lovema75 does want a diesel though...as I understand it will be used for business purposes.

Lets not start another these are better than those threads.

I would like a diesel for the higher mileages I see stated:drool4:, but then I do not live in my car and would never do them sort of mileages, my 75 1.8 only turned 74,000 yesterday and for the size of car ( tourer ) she ticks all my boxes and leaves me £££'s to spend elsewhere :D

I am afraid I would have to disagree, and I have owned both types.

But that's not the point of this thread.

More on topic, as David is not flush with a contingency for repairs, cars that 'look good' are not a good idea. He needs a car that is good.

reworht 12th April 2014 12:16

An uncommon sight - a Yorkshireman putting his hand in his pocket :D
Funds on way via Paypal - can't think of a better cause :}

Cockaa 12th April 2014 12:19

Let's find him a Diesel "That is good" aswell as looking good hey, This is what this thread is about after all, not another excuse for an arguement, to show what a supportive club this is for a member who we all feel deserves a better hand of cards than he has been dealt of late.
When the troops arrive back from pol i'm sure the total will rise further towards a great effort ;)

Time Searcher 12th April 2014 12:23

a couple of people made huge donations that doubled the pot  that's not to take away from any other donation but merely to say I have been blown away twice in the last 24 hours.

where in the country does David live btw, just if we find a car in the north west and he lives down south then we need to consider that:shrug:
