Gonna aim for Saturday. By then cosmetic work will have been done.

Would have come to this but object to paying £15 just for a days visit. Rev. |
The Club National day is the Sunday. That’s the day we will be presenting the Gryphon Award for best Rover 75 / ZT in show as voted for by the members present. :sunny:

Rover fest
Hi Guys
Finally sorted a date. Sunday 7th. Noted 44x75/MGs listed to go. Should be fun. Over 350 Rovers going. That is a lot of burgers. See you there. |
Hi Guys
There are now forty five 75 & ZTs booked in for Sunday so this should be a great show for this club. For those attending on Saturday only, please check out the Roverfest website for the activities on Saturday. There will be a choice of two road runs starting from the rally field and driving skill tests taking place on site during the day. There is an evening Fish & Chip supper on Friday night and a dinner on site, Saturday evening (pre-booking essential for both meals). There will be no significant display of cars on Saturday, but people are welcome to attend, park up and watch or take part in the driving skill tests or road runs. We just don't want you thinking that there will be a large display of cars on Saturday. Sunday will be the big day! There is also availability for caravans and camping on site over the weekend but only basic facilities, so a water supply and portaloos! (A small charge applies for this.) We look forward to seeing you. |
Apologies for not being about after posting this, had a bit of a wobble with the old mince pies.
I've posted up who is coming along in the first post and just mentioned a rather gorgeous example will be coming along - take a look! |

Coming to the event
Looking forwards to meeting like minded people at my first Rover event having left the MG fold with the sale of my ZR160. Year 2000 75 Cowley built Wedgewood Blue in excellent order. Just coming to look, listen and learn. Happy days!

The price covers all three days - the only thing to bear in mind is the evening meals are an additional cost.
We are looking to close the food bookings, so if you do want some food please book asap. |

Hi
I have also booked in for Sunday, but not on your list (J46) Will be nice to meet up/see all Rovers!!!:} Pat |
I'd really really hoped to get over to this, and then the national next day, unfortunately ivf savings are top priority for us (why work on cars has slowed down also). Enjoy folks.
|
Well over 60 are coming along which is great news. You can still book online if you want to come along and see rows of gorgeous Rovers from across the ages.

Attending on Sunday (and possibly Saturday)
I have made a late decision to attend Roverfest. Having new cam belts fitted Saturday morning so attendance that afternoon is tentative, dependent on progress. Have booked a guest house nearby so will be attending on Sunday morning for the main event
|
I booked for Saturday, not realising Sunday is the main day, can i turn up on Sunday instead?

I've booked my early tourer in for Sunday. This will be the first event I've taken her to.
|
Currently 71 75/ZTs entered, so potentially another 11 members to be won over?
|
I'm working off the remaining brain cell but that sounds about right. Plus of course some more who will turn up on the day. :}

I'm booked for Sunday & looking forward to it. :)

Well, that was a busy weekend. 84 beautiful examples arrived Sunday, and so many looked absolutely pin-sharp too (apart from the blue one dumped at the top by our gazebo). The standard across the board was quite incredible. Mark Fraser's Firefrost ZT Turbo gleamed spotlessly, while a few yards away a V8 Supercharged complete in wide body trim sat in quiet menace. The factory missed a trick with that.
If anything it made it harder for everyone to decide which should win this year's Gryphon Award, which also meant a wide range of the cars got votes, with 4 tying for 4th place and third to first separated only by single votes too. I'm hopefully going to see some pics land with me very soon (To my shame I didn't get a chance to take any and Roverfest does get us all running about a lot) but I can let you all know the results for this year were: Gryphon Award winner: Gerry Lloyd, 75C Convertible Second Place: Max Stewart, 75 V8 Tourer Third Place: Cliff Bradley, 75 Connoisseur SE saloon Max also picked up the Roverfest Award this year for best in class. But more than the award, it's a huge pleasure to see so many people, plenty first-timers too, after such a tumultuous last couple of years for us all. I've written some notes down concerning questions asked to me, so some points raised about ECUs, headlining and sunroof seals for example are already being chased as of this evening Roverfest returns in 2024, but for now many thanks to everyone who came along and I hope to see you all again much sooner. |

Brilliant day!
Had a great time although I was shooting video in the 200/400 area whilst the 75/ZT OC awards ceremony was taking place, pity. It was also a pity that by the time I got to the 75s that quite a lot of members had already left. Some video screenshots of the award winning cars https://i.postimg.cc/3xnHb9bb/screenshot-GL.png https://i.postimg.cc/XYVb8txC/screenshot-MS.png https://i.postimg.cc/vH7y5G7y/screenshot-CB.png Already looking forward to RoverFest 2024. Rover fest
Enjoyed our day on Sunday. Our 1st Roverfest and not our last. Great weather and great company. Met some lovely people. cars were fantastic, how do you choose from such a vast array of 75 & MGs. We went for the Aubergine saloon largely because of the interior. Grateful thanks to Pete for his tireless efforts. Already diarised for 2023.

Just going through the video I shot yesterday creating a timeline and came across these:-
Firstly did anybody else spot the vin plate on Gerry's convertible? https://i.postimg.cc/k57YLtp1/DSC01476-Copy.jpg Secondly this P4 wasn't what it seemed ;) https://i.postimg.cc/SssTxbqc/CAS232-1.png https://i.postimg.cc/6QzbKps9/CAS232-2.png https://i.postimg.cc/jSHk8hZn/CAS232-3.jpg Made me giggle. Jim |
Ian Portsmore who owns the street sleeper P4 also owns my old P4 now as he has a thing for early alloy-panelled 110's. We had a nice chat at the event yesterday.
A grand day all told & we had a nice evening Saturday too as we travelled up & pitched our tent for the night to save an early start on Sunday. I did see the VIN plate on the convertible. A very impressive piece of work despite some niggles with the hood mechanism. |
A great day out, and a real treat to see Gerry's convertible up close, it really is a remarkable achievement
I took my camera, but took hardly any photos . No real reason, I think I've just got out of the habit  Anyhow, a few from me to hopefully start the ball rolling :}: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0ea407b2_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c2a0f88d_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f260e936_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a00c76f1_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f1cde17f_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f41c2b94_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...40d2f86d_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bb2d7b1b_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3f8550f8_b.jpg |

It was a great day, but traffic getting on the M1 for the way back was a bit of a 'mare :} Cliff |
Yes, we came off at J13 & took the scenic route home.

Then delayed due to rubber-neckers of a three car accident southbound, the normal 60 mph air quality speed limit around Birmingham and a new one on me a 60 mph speed limit for several miles to test the system! No matter home in just over 3 hours including one comfort break, didn't think that was too bad considering. Jim |
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the day and the great location. Also took the back roads home, leading to a pint on the way back 🍺
Will definitely do 2024 if possible. Good to see so many nice cars. Thinking more of older Rovers mainly, but 10 years ago there were a lot of tired ones, now they are the exception rather than the rule. And I would say that there are probably more on the road now too than when I last had an SD1 10 years or so ago. |
Continuing to edit video and found these lovely smiles I didn't notice on the day
https://i.postimg.cc/FHmFcR7b/Roverfest-smiles.png also came across a picture on my phone that I'd taken just as I opened the curtains on Sunday morning https://i.postimg.cc/MK1KvRKK/Mitche...-08-22-001.jpg it's not often you see a Streetwise, a Rover P4, a Belgium registered Rover 75 and a Rover P5B Coupe in the same car park, mind you there were many more Rovers out of sight of my window. Here's the short video edit I made of Roverfest, mostly drone footage, but also shows Gerry's 75 cabriolet with hood operation...

Unfortunately the hood wouldn't work correctly whilst I was recording but as Gerry says it's still work in progress and it's down as a winter project to troubleshoot the issues. Jim |
