So how about a wee bit of fun.
I've posted a picture of a car, well a part of a car:getmecoat:
First to guess correctly ( and confirmed) then posts a picture for others to guess and so on.

An easy one to start with

seemingly this was an Alfa Ti with Nissan badges - I never thought Nissan sold any sports versions of this particular Cherry. I had to look up the Arna, and its various models to find that out.

try this one - it is a rally car, but make and model (no trim level required lol)

I didnt think so. I have seen it before, but cannot recall its name. I remember thinking that it looks like the offspring of a Renault 17 and an Allegro, if the 17 and Allegro was brother and sister lol. :puke:

No it's not a kit car, it's from a low volume manufacturer that let's say produced some rather diverse vehicles from the 70's to the 90's.

The 70s-90s makes me think of Panther? I can only think of their pre war Mercedes copies and the lovely six wheeler.

EDIT: Know what it is now! I actually was aware of its name, but never realised it looked like that. But it was not from knowledge, so dont feel it is right to say.

Easy Panther Solo, I remember going to the Motor show when it was released. Sierra Cosworth I think with 4x4 but I might have wished that.

I remember seeing one in the flesh at another show and the finish was very disappointing for such an expensive car.

Everything in me is saying Volkswagen, but I have never seen anything like it.

it looks like a Wolfsburg badge on the hub caps, Peugeot grill, with a Beetle-esque bonnet rib, and Beetle lights. But the wheels look like Ford Prefect .........

Based on that, is it Eastern European/Russian in origin? (as in a copy of all of the above?)

trikey 23rd November 2021 18:11

Ill guess a Nissan.

clf 23rd November 2021 18:27

there are so many oddities to it.

There seems to be a high level brake light, 'modern' indicators and a GPS(?) aerial, yet it seems to have an old flat non bonded windscreen, external hinges and trafficators. Am guessing it is actually old, rather than a modern retro styled mini bus.

Then there looks to be something similar to a Karmann Ghia (Renault Dauphine) at its side, and a motor bike behind it - could it be a Steyr or a Puch or both? (lol) - else it could be on a restoration company's stand

So many styling cues to see aargh!

It is old and was produced in mainland Europe, that's not the rear of a VW or Renault you can see it's a car produced by the same company.

Correct Dave it's a DKW F89L Schnellaster.

For Alan's information the car was a DKW 3=6 which would, when updated, become the Auto Union 1000.

Correct. Must have been too easy!

I think clf deserves a bonus point too.

I put a £100 deposit down on one in haste when I had a MK2 MR2 but the following day I seen an MG ZT at another garage. I lost the deposit and bought the ZT. The following morning it wouldn't start and a friend who does car diagnostics put me in touch with marinabrian who came around to my home and told me the in-tank pump had failed and I needed to keep the diesel above quarter of a tank full til I replaced it. Brian recommended this forum and though I don't have the ZT anymore it's still my first port of call for reading every day. I've noticed I've gone blue so I'll pay my tenner to support this great club for another year. I still refuse to pay the jaguar drivers club £50 a year they want.

Definitely a Beetle, but not sure about the other one. I would have remembered a ZT so I expect it was something lesser.
