Correct!

Jack Nicholson said those lines in.....'A few good men'

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 20:59

A Few Good Men ?

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:07

I like the slightly older classics, so

"Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"

Zeb 22nd January 2008 21:10

James Cagney.....cannot remember the film...before my time I reckon!

You only get half a point for that - anyone able to give me the film title and character played by Cagney?

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:15

How about:

"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know."

should be easier.

That has a hint of Groucho Marx about it

Correct, in 'Animal Crackers' (1930)

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:25

Spotted the humour - couldn't possibly have placed the film though

Zeb 22nd January 2008 21:26

Too far back for me...

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:28

Perhaps a simple one:-

"You're only supposed to blow the bluddy doors off" - Ooops - swear filter got in on the act - deliberate mis spelling.

Zeb 22nd January 2008 21:30

Michael Caine in 'The Italian Job'...

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:31

That'll be Michael caine in the (original) Italian Job.

The james Cagney quote was from 'White Heat' , one of my all time fav films from 1949, in which Cagney plays Arther Jarrett ('Cody').

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:35

OK, a very very easy one:

'They call me Mister Tibbs'

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:37

Sidney Poitier as Tibbs

Wasn't the phrase the name of the film?

A popular misconception, but the film was actually called 'In the Heat of the Night' (1966/67?)

Ah - but there was a sequel I believe, to In the heat of the Night. Produced early seventies I think. Maybe he didn't actually say those words in it though.

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:43

Now - was this a classic film I wonder?

"They're coming to get you, Barbara"

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:50

That was a Horror flick of some kind...

As a guess -

'Night of the Living Dead' ?

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:51

That's it - the seminal zombie movie. :)

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:52

That really was a lucky guess - I don't generally do horror movies !!

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 21:55

OK - not horror:-

You're not a real Spitfire pilot - only officers fly Spitfires"

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 21:58

Mmmm A war film obviously, but I have to concede defeat on that one.

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 22:02

Hmm

Classic film - maybe not a classic line

Spoken by a character the credits called "urchin" to a sergeant pilot during the blitz in the film "Battle of Britain"

And on that bombshell, I shall have to retire, having a very early start tomorrow.

tourerfogey 22nd January 2008 22:05

I think we've taken over Zeb's game :D

My final ofering for tonight then, from an absolute all time classic from 1968

'Look, Chalmers, let's understand each other... I don't like you'

Raistlin 22nd January 2008 22:09

I'm sure that's The Ipcress File

Think that's V, just before he embarks on the most glorious display of alliteration I can remember (and his vendetta).

Quite correct. I think this is the quote you mention;

"Voilą! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

And Inspector Finch tools about in a facelift 75...

I'm almost certain it was filmed on the heaps behind Cambois power station near Blyth.

GreyGhost 24th January 2008 20:24

I watched Get Carter last night, that line does not occur in the film, but I think we all would like to say it to while he is running along the beach. He actually takes the shot in the forehead just as he is about to toss the shotgun out to sea. Love the wry smile on his face just before that event.

podge 24th January 2008 21:52

OOPS!....my apologies on that, just thought it might put you in the picture(no pun intended) as to the film.I cannot remember any throw away lines from "The Long Good Friday", yet such a good film, can anyone else?

GERFIX 25th January 2008 08:48

Raistlin 25th January 2008 08:59

Big trouble in little China

GERFIX 25th January 2008 09:00

Raistlin 25th January 2008 09:02

OK

A single word quote:-

"Blucher"

nairda 25th January 2008 09:05

That sounds like "Young Frankenstein".

Raistlin 25th January 2008 09:07

That's right :)

Marty Feldman uses the name to frighten the horses. :)

How about:-

"Can't you see that man's a Ni"

nairda 25th January 2008 09:12

"Blazing Saddles".

I can sense a Mel Brooks theme here...

Raistlin 25th January 2008 10:39

In my view, one of the funniest visual gags Mel Brooks ever did - the timing was amazing.

Raistlin 25th January 2008 13:49
