Hi, with only just over 600 built the Old English White/Arran White 75 is getting scarce on our roads. As an owner and lover of the colour, I am trying to track and record remaining cars. If you own one, why not join my list and help!
If you don't want to give reg details, or would rather pm them, that's okay too! I'll start off with mine. Please add your details if you wish. Eventually I will make a swish web page. Rover 75 Connie 1.8 auto V885 FBC Derbyshire |

MFL is what people call old English white. Although the paint code is the same the colour was renamed Arran White.
I believe they were more common in Cowley production and records are sparse. Looking up the records for a 2.5V6 club Auto in Arran White, there was only one made at Longbridge! Funny enough X499MFL & X498MFL are identical specs 498 though is scrap. |
I don't know if MFLs latest owner is on here, but they're on Facebook. I shall post on there too when I get a minute!

MFL was mine up to the end of January, it's been moved on again in the last week or so and I do know it's gone to a good home and I believe a new member. Hope that the new owner keeps this thread alive. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=212864 |
Hi Dawn, I'm sure Trikey would post, he has my old one, owned for over 8 years. 2000, 1.8 n/a, W317 OEN

There's also that white tourer I posted up yesterday.

I could have bought this car back in 2012. http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/q...201024x768.jpg http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/q...12%202%201.jpg http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/q...201024x768.jpg I didn't as I suspected serious expenditure was pending. She had 90k on the clock and neither the clutch or the belts had been done, and the price was high. Lovely looking thing though. A tinge of regret here. |
Quote:
The clutch on petrol models massively outlive those on diesels. Most of the clutch issues we read about here are in diesel versions. No doubt vibration is the cause as both versions use virtually identical set ups. |
Quote:
Certainly my 1.8 is on her second clutch, which was there when I bought the car on 80k miles. |
I think also because the diesels tend to be the higher mileage ones too so more things go wrong, more wear and tear etc.

MFL (2.5 V6 Automatic) is definitely still alive, I have just sold it to a new member 'Claudec' (Colin) who has just put it through its MOT
Here she is along with another beauty a White 2.0 V6 Tourer that we have just acquired for a family member and it now resides near Wick in Scotland http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/a...psqtfuivnh.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/a...psncgvg5vg.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/a...psns4hozb5.jpg hope that helps your quest |
Okay, so now my personal life is starting to settle, I am going to try and do this again - so far I have the cars in this thread, plus a handful off Facebook - nine cars in total. There has to be quite a few more out there, so if you know one, or see one on EBay, let me know! :)
|
I've seen a few on the facebook pages. Have they been accounted for?
|
Not wishing to hi-jack this thread, - as a new owner of a 2001 CDT with 107,000miles and no current clutch issues, what is a typical clutch life in miles on these?
|
Sorry, I only drive auto - I have made the register into a web page, just considering a subdomain or where the heck to host it...

Old English White Club SE
Hi there, I'm new to this forum but have been looking for a nice 75 for the last few months. I managed to purchase an immaculate Old English White 75 just before Christmas. It's only had 3 ownwers 2 had the car for 17 years and I bought her off an old gent who had hungered after this car from the other 2 gents since the car was new. The car has always been garaged therefore she's immaculate inside and out. The old gent (LAST KEEPER) only had the car for 8 weeks, and only sold it because he drove an automatic all his life and with failing hearing could not hear when to change gear or remember to dip the clutch at a junction or traffic light, so kept stalling her. The engine inside the cabine is as quiet as a ticking watch.
She is now under blankets within my garage (house) in Swansea South Wales which is where she will stay, until the summer months. My car is registration W813OSS. A 2000 2.0 V6 CLUB SE Regards Phil |

Hi don't know if this link will work below but if it does then this is my new baby. Had her just before Xmas for 550, I have now bought a set of serpent wheels for her which I will get refurbished soon, and sorted out the boot switch, it was as the old gent said a wire broken of behind the switch. Regards Phil,
PS if the link below doesn't work can you please let me know how to load some of my own photos. :duh::duh: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F162794881010 |
Hi, do you want me to add it to the register? If so can you PM me your reg please? Any photos of her? I see you are only in Derby, so not far from me! Maybe I'll see you someday! My car is also a 1.8 and currently having the engine replaced, so sadly not on the road, but hopefully soon! :)

I know of 2 old english white 75s here in Perth Western Australia, one was a 2001 car , the other was a 2003 i think and both connies.
The later one was driven by the mgr dealer principal prior to the brand going under here. Ive been looking for one but they seem to have gone to ground since being sold a few years ago and never been seen since. Probably in a collectors shed some where. |
I can take part now =)

Me got one
Hi
I have an OE White 1.8 club currently tucked away in my garage for winter. Got 60k on the clock and has had the HG replaced. Its Y976MHC has had 3 owners from new the last one had it 12 years and did 16k in it. Can't wait for the sun to come out :driving::driving::driving: |
To me, the Old English White on the 75s look less creamy than the OEW used on classic BMC cars back in the 50s/60s. I had a Morris Minor in OEW with red interior- a great colour combination. The paint code for OEW back then was WT3 and I think it was rather creamier than what I have seen on 75s.

There is one in Czech republic (1.8, LHD, automat, MY 2001). I have this car 10 years, picture is from Belgium, where I this 75 bought.
