Rover 75 survival rates of colours
I was wondering now that the youngest built Rover/ZT are now 14 going into 15 years old, and some early ones 20 years old, what is the most popular colours still in existence ? aware silver and firefrost may be high on here due to higher numbers ( mark 2s) however the mark 1 Rover 75 will show a more mixed bag i feel
Ill start it off i have two Copperleaf red tourers |
My mk2 75 is Firefrost, in my humble opinion the best non monogram colour.

Got a Mk1 Copperleaf and a MK2 Firefrost. Best of both.
Condition is far more important than colour for me though. |
Be good to know how many Mirage 2 are still left, weren't many to start with! But here's one for starters.
|
Hi,my MK1 saloon diesel is Moonstone and the Launch car is the obligatory Wedgewood blue.Regards Ry...
|
My daily runner is Wedgewood blue and my donor car is platinum gold.
|
July 1999 Mk 1 in Zircon Silver.;)
|
Daily drive is an awful black, Sunday and normal holiday with caravan car is cinnamon
macafee2 |
Daily driver (Tourer) is Damson (never popular, but offered from 1999 to 2005), Contemporary is Royal Blue, ZTs are Trophy Blue and Chatsworth Bronze.

The longest surviving colours will be the drab ones chosen by the most elderly original owners, White Gold, Wedgewood Blue, Snot Supertallic, etc etc etc.
This is generally as they will have lived a cossetted life, low mileage, garaged, etc. As a point of principle, I would never again buy a car that wasn't a really nice example, in a really nice colour These cars look ace in dark colours, which highlight the chrome brightwork beautifully, the same thing cannot be said of the dreary and drab silvers, greys and other light colours. To this day I rue selling my Mk1 ZT in Anthracite in favour of the drab silver Primer of the MK2 ZT. How a colour can make a difference to how you feel about a car is amazing, JFM, lovely, CEV, lovely, CDX lovely, HFF delightful, MBB boooring, LEF super drab, HEF yuk, GMN no no no no NO!! The shortest time I've owned a car ever is four hours.........the car was white gold :getmecoat: Brian :D |
I have a 2006 reg zt diesel in ignition blue which will be my daily very shortly, my other is a Mk1 zt190 in Brians favourite colour , x power grey, with just 21600 on the clock whose recommissioning will begin very soon.

4 ZT’s produced in Sunspot Yellow (IAC). 3 still survive. Fate of the 4th unknown. (Numbers 1 & 2 were exported to Southern Ireland. Numbers 3 & 4 stayed on the mainland).
1 ZTT produced in Sunspot Yellow (IAC). And is still alive and well in the UK. 1 Rover 75 produced in Sunspot Yellow (IAC). Fate unknown. |
6 Rover 75 Saloons in Lagoon (IAN). 1 exported to Libya, so possibly no longer around, the other 5 still hopefully on the road :}.

Actually, the lighter colours highlight the sweeping lines of the classic shape more than the darker ones.
The car's coloure should also complement the driver's own shade. Platinum Gold suits me brilliantly. :} |
I wasn't too keen on my Firefrost red to begin with, but it has grown on me. I would still fancy a lighter blue colour...though not enough to pay for a respray! :)
|
Becoming less common .... Zircon Silver
|
I think silver will be the most common colour. If you think back to mid 2000 nearly every car on the road was either silver or black. A coloured car back then was a rarety. Silver mk11's seem to be the most common 75's around my area. Including mine.
I think anyone looking to buy one now, condition should be the first priority. |
:} I have ROXY in HFF British racing green who looks lovely when polished up, and BLUEBELLE in JBH Wedgewood metallic which in my opinion looks way better because the light colour looks so beautiful and elegant with all that chrome (refurbished shiny meteors help).
|
Well I am not going to win any rarity prizes for colour with trophy blue. But who cares! I think she's a fab colour!
|
2 trophy Blues , Dizzle & 260 and a Firefrost 1.8T
+ Lizzes lil Trophy Blue Zr Shopping Rocket :D |
Mk1 75 connie tourer in starlight silver and a Mk1 ZT-T 190 in raven black. Previously a Mk1 75 saloon in wedgewood blue.
|
Trophy blue
Royal blue Lagoon White gold (especially for Brian) 🤣🤣 |
I always wanted pewter grey, not many of those around now, if any left, and i had a primrose yellow Rover 75, that looked ace.
|
Copperleaf, but also spotted within the last two days (around Hereford and Pershore) a Raven black, white gold, firefrost, wedge wood and a navy blue tourer. Quite a mixed bag. Seeing the black one was the first one i've seen on the road, very smart it was too.

1999 Mk1 Atlantic blue pearlescent (JEY) with blue / green glints.
Am I alone with that only Cowley built colour? |
Ignition blue and a 56 plate too......................
Car was built two days before the factory doors were shut for good. |

My first 75, Starlight Silver.
My current CTD1 Copperleaf. I did really like my silver 75, but, Copperleaf is a really nice colour, and it's convinced me darker colours look better. P.S. MarinaBrian had no influence on this . Honest !! |
2 x Rover 75's in Arran White (NNX)
1 x Rover 75 in Copperleaf Red (CDX) 1 x Rover 75 in Dorchester Red (CDW) 1 x Rover 75 in Arden Green (HEW) 1 x MG ZT260 SE in Mirage Kinetic 2 (IAU) 1 x MG ZT190+ in Anthracite Black (LQW) 1 x MG ZT-T160 in Trophy Blue (JFV) |
BRG. British racing green, metallic.
As Brian says, the darker colours with the chrome trim look magnificent when properly cleaned and polished. |
Both my 75 and ZT are in Brian’s favourite colour, XPG (or Tempest grey as it was called on the Rover) I love it and properly polished shows off the lines and chrome of both the tourer and saloon. I’ll get my coat now.............:D
|
My old one was a 53 silver and my new one is a 53 White Gold Conny SE

Wedgwood blue is still a popular colour. Here is the evidence from one of the National meetings at Gaydon.
