My V8 in Cornwall last week
 

Quite a few people will know this car as up to July it was owned by Dave T - Duotone.

We'd had a weeks break down in Cornwall and it got dirty due to the bad weather for the first couple of days - so I "had" to give it a wash and polish. The evening was just starting to draw in as I took the photo's, the light and fill in flash seems to have helped in showing the colour changes - normally a hard car to photograph well.

Thanks Dave I've been really enjoying owning it.

Spent a bit on it, now has a vortex spare wheel with tool boxes in the well with a 4x4 cover over it, full jack kit in the underfloor foam, replaced the "green carpet" with a non slip boot liner and fitted a boot lid mounted warning triangle. Inside a drivers side cupholder and a full E46 widescreen upgrade including BM24, hybrid tv and mk4 navigation computer, just need to get the latest software and a Rover splashscreen sorted. I've had a quote for a full two tone leather retrim and should be booking it in during October.

Travelled over 1K during our break to Cornwall, averaged 21.24mpg, the worst being 18.62mpg, the best being 25.1mpg, my foot must be heavier than yours:D and it went over 40K whilst we were away.

Hi Jim

It seems strange that the first owner, a MG Rover director should have specified Alcantara and leather seats.

The said director must have ticked every box from the options list but did not go for the full leather interior.

Still, thats something that you are planning to rectify.

Yes wondered about that myself, mind you the alcantara is a lot lighter than the full leather ZT type seats, maybe it was the "look" he wanted.

The juries out as to whether I should have it done or not as most people that see it reckon it should be left as it is.

I guess you must have outbid me for the Vortex that was on ebay a few weeks ago?

But - the big question is, how do you get into into the spare wheel well? My cars have got the CD, Battery,and loads of other bits filling the well. Can't even get a spacesaver in, let alone a Vortex!

No didn't outbid you on eBay got my spare from Roverbreakers out at Middlewich.

No as you rightly say the spares not in the well, that doesn't exist in a V8, I think you've misunderstood me there what I meant was that the tool boxes are in the "well" of the spare wheel as :

no I hadn't found a way of loosing the spare wheel under the floor but this is my solution for carrying a jack kit
