Carpet related question

Hi everyone,
I just have question about the carpets I don't know if this the right part of the forum for it so excuse me if should have posted elsewhere. After my late 2003 Connie se v6 flooded from the sunroof drain pipes I decided to replace the carpet from my old 75 an early 01 Connie v6 which is a pre project drive car. I've been trying to get the carpet from the old one to fit propairly and it seems like I can't I'm wondering if there is any difference between pre project drive cars and post project drive ones. This one seems to be slightly longer I can't get far forwards enough to go in. Am I doing something wrong or shall I give up and wait for original to the car dry and put it back in ?
Many thanks,
Thanos.

hi Thanos
It should fit albeit a little thicker than the later model cars, look into the front footwell upwards make sure the carpet is not snagged on the two prongs sticking up.

Thanks for the reply,
The carpet doesn't even reach up to the 2 prongs and at the same time I can't get it to tuck under the rear sill trim because it's too far forward for that. It could be me being stupid but the whole thing just doesn't seem right it's like when you get an aftermarket part that looks to be the right hing but when you go to fit it it actually isn't exactly the same thing.
Regards,
Thanos

Thanks,
