compressor replacement

My a/c compressor has given up the ghost. I am having difficulty removing the bolts that secure the pipes to the compressor. It is only a question of time before I manage to release them but I am worried about replacing said pipes when fitting the replacement compressor. I wondered if there are any tips about this. I did do a search but didn't find any. I am contemplating removing the radiator to get at the compressor more easily. Does anyone have any comments to make about this? Time is not a consideration as I have alternative transport.

I finally came to the conclusion that the best, not necessarily the quickest, way to remove and replace the compressor is to remove the radiator. It is not so much the removal of the compressor as the difficulties in replacing it. Getting those three bolts in and also the heat shield is horrible. They either go in first time or they take hours of struggle and cursing.!.
