What I do is simple -

• Press and hold the trip reset,
• Turn ignition to first position, the display will read 'test 1'
• Then press the trip reset repeatedly until it reads 'test 19'
• The display with then alternate with 'Log 1 -on" / "Log 1 -off'
• When it shows 'Log 1 -off' press the trip to get to test 7 which will show the water temperature as the 2 figures next to it.
• Start the engine and watch the numbers climb. :)

Do you not need to start the engine first?? as when you turn the key to start it the display turns off:icon_question:

No. I do exactly what I spent time writing out. :rolleyes:

(The only thing that is a bit ambiguous is that '....water temperature as the 2 figures next to it.' is not quite correct. Test 7 is on the top left of the display and the water temp on the bottom. :))

I have just returned from Doncaster - Andy Willi very kindly had "an open day" at his garage.

Before I had time to put down my cup of tea, Andy had the bonnet open, cut though the top hose and mounted my new specialist components thermostat.

We then revved it hard and for only the second time in the 12 months I've owned the car, I saw the temperature gauge reach mid scale deflection. The display on test 7 indicated 86 when it settled.

I have just driven home and the gauge indicated normal all the way home. The heater was hot and it felt smoother and quieter. So success!

Do you know, I thought mine was smoother and quieter after I did it but decided that must have been wishful thinking so didn't say anything about it.

Anyone else notice that the car seems smoother when it is running at the 'right' temperature?

Before today it typically used to give a quarter scale deflection on the gauge and indicate 60 odd degrees on test 7.

I can recommend it. Its a very nicely turned component and fits beutifully into the cut hose - you need to chop about an inch out of the hose to fit it neatly.

Some of the guys there today took photos they may appear soon.
