Actor William Simons Passes Away
William Simons who played the role of Alf Ventress in Heartbeat has passed away.
The role he played was exactly as I recall the old style Station Sergeants of yesteryear, easy going, tactful, but smoothly and professionally getting on with their job. I did work alongside a guy just like that for several years, and I believe I learnt a lot from him. I think William played that role well. |

Brilliant actor. Did a lot outside of TV also it seems. Love Heartbeat but then I am from those parts.

I'm very saddened to hear this.
Loved his character in Heartbeat. RIP William Simons. |
RIP. Reminded me of a lot of the characters in the police with my father in the early '70s.

He was very similar in stature to my late Uncle Bill who was an inspector with Liverpool City Police back in the 50’s
