Kitchenaid Stand Mixer
Have a Kitchenaid 5KSM150 stand mixer which has performed excellently for years. However, the last couple of times I've used it its started off painfully slow, put the speed switch to position 1 and it barely turns, even "stalls" as the mix thickens, have to put the speed switch to position 3 to achieve what was position 1 speed? It'll run slowly for several minutes before the speed suddenly picks up to normal.
I've looked online but can't find any clues, emailed Kitchenaid but no response to date. Anybody got one and had a similar problem? |
I don't know what type of motor it has, but if it's quite elderly, then it sounds like worn brushes.

Needs a gold resistor fitting 😆

Been looking for some kind off troubleshooting guide or service/maintenance schedule but can't find anything. User guide tells you bugr all! Guess I'll have to wait for a reply to my email. |
I would begin with the obvious: Try another socket > Check the connections inside the plug have not loosened > check the cable for any hidden intermittent break, usually in the area where it enters the appliance - flex the cable there and watch for any difference it might make. Only then would I consider opening up the appliance to look for any mechanical or electrical problem. :getmecoat:

We gave our old Kenwood to my daughter. Her hubby has stripped and rebuilt it. The grease had hardened and was slowing everything down! It seems that they have a cult following now and are in high demand!:shrug:See item 313482780541 on ebay! Full set!
