Blue Diesel ZTT
I'm looking for something fairly specific but also common enough to not be an entirely hopeless search.
A Mk1 ZTT diesel in Trophy Blue. I would consider a Typhoon or Yellow car but I'm not interested in any other colour, nor a 75, nor a saloon. I'll not rule out a Mk2, but I don't like them. I would prefer it to have Xenon lights. After that I'm not bothered about options or spec. I do not care about mileage. Also it doesn't particularly have to be tidy - I don't mind a fixer upper as I will keep it long long term and will go through it anyway, but no projects please, no engine failures or really rusty examples. Enough MOT to last this winter would be great, then I can set into it in the better weather. |

I know you're not keen, but I did find a MK2 with cruise and a recent clutch

So far, I've seen a silver low mileage ZTT pop up on ebay and disappear again in the time it took me to go play football a couple of hours. At £995 with a years MOT, no shock there. I considered it but too late.
And an auto, facelift, in trophy blue, never mind several green and red pre-facelifts as well, but I just don't think I want an auto in this car. I am mulling that one over but the 40mpg/50mpg difference and the fact I want to do the chip as well makes me think to stay away from a laggy auto. And then a couple of high, high mileage blue manual cars, but facelift, also showed up on ebay and facebook, which I'm also mulling over... And a sky blue (can't remember the colour name) mk1 old-man-cherished car on gumtree, but auto... so close. it feels like it's coming, and I have to persevere for the right one... |
I've owned both manual and auto diesel
ZT/ZTTs and I know it's only one man's opinion but for me the diesel auto with 160 upgrade is by far the best combination to have. Certainly not sluggish in any way. Good luck in your search,I'm having a similarly difficult time trying to buy a suitable touring caravan. Cheers |
Appreciate that Ian. I've had quite a few BMW 320ds using the same (sort of) engine and they have been vastly different manual to auto. Perhaps it's down to the box, I assume the Rover/MG uses a Jatco like the Freelander, not the ZF in the BMW.
I am beginning to get a little bit frustrated I must admit. I have chased down certain specifications of cars before, and own a couple of cars that would be in single digit survivors in the UK, some taking 5 or 6 years to find, but this should be much easier than it's proving! |

Speak to Shiner. Unlikely, but may be of interest
