Tourer Tailgate Strut Mount
Hello everyone,
My tourer tailgate strut mounting has failed. Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the Worcester area who could repair and paint? Gaz. |
Depends how bad it is, but I fixed my granddads 75T buy getting a big washer and unscrewing the mount and placing the under it, it just spreads the load over more metal work rather than the small area, I also did this to my mums ZTT so saves it failing it future.

Mine failed today and fixed with a washer...... done the trick...... hopefully it lasts

My MGR garage welded mine, did a brilliant job after the tailgate fell on my head in Sainsbury's car park...

Any photos of the actual break? As far as I am aware my ZTT is fine in this regard - but the thought of the heavy tailgate dropping unexpectedly is not something I look forward to!!!

I need to fix these on my dads car.
Off side is gone. Near side is loose. Going to have to try and work out a way to get the nut out from inside the pillar! |

yes it hurts
supermarket carpark in December, pouring with rain, close tailgate, BANG. strut drives into hinge and jams tailgate. ball headed pivot nut disappears inside pillar, wife disappears inside car. wails of " woe is me etc " drive home with tailgate open about 6 inches, lovely exhaust smell. my answer ? as per post from the gents in the west country. 9 inches of 1inch wide steel pop riveted over missing pivot nut holes with lock nuts on back of steel strips. not as neat as other answers but way stronger because the fatigue point is spread over 9 inches.
