19th National Club Meet 4th October 2015

Announcing the 19th Owners Club National Meet

The Club's 19th National Meet will be held on
Sunday 4th October 2015
at The British Commercial Transport Museum
King Street,
Leyland,
Lancashire
PR25 2LE
10am to 4.30pm

Housed in part of the old Leyland Truck works
This remarkable museum brings the compelling story of commercial vehicles to life.
From the bygone days of horse drawn carriages through to the state of the art power trucks
you will discover a visually rich array of buses, fire engines, delivery trucks
and even a very unique lawnmower.

There is a Café on site

As usual we will have our own parking area which is adjacent to the museum.
Items from the club shop will be available and of course there will be a raffle

In addition to the Sunday national meet it is hoped to arrange a group meal
early on the Saturday evening followed by a convoy run to the Blackpool illuminations

The cost for the National is £5.00 per person Payable on arrival at the meet check in desk
which includes entry into the museum
The on the door entrance fee is normally £6.50

I am also going to book the Premier Inn. If it is of help to other members I have found a local rate number for the Premier Inn which is: 01772 697711

Nev The Bear 24th June 2015 08:39

Premier Inn booked currently £35 online. If you are going to book the rate is much cheaper than booking by phone.

I'm in..

Put me on the list...I'll bring Denise as we're close to this location. There is a Premier Inn in Wigan that has got a very secure car park, it's only 20 mins from Leyland so anyone coming can keep it in mind. I'll meet with anyone coming and show them around if they want to, Wigan is a very nice town and has its roots in Roman times, The last civil war battle was here....

I hope so Bob and I have asked the very same question..
Whilst I have offered to help take some of the load from Reebs/Christopher by finding the venue etc and I know that Paul (Reebs) is unable to attend because of work commitments the meet itself being a National should stand out from a day to day non official meet and as such will I presume be headed and run as normal by Christopher and the green team.
Cheers Ian

Hello all
Well a little over a week to the national,
I'm not sure how many are local or overnighting but if any one is interested in a trip to Blackpool to view the lights on the Saturday evening please let me know.
I'll need to check if it's possible to do it in convoy (maybe someone with local knowledge can help) if not it may be a tram ride.
Cheers Ian

Nice comfortable seats in a car that will cruise all day.

Is it OK to just come along

Hi there,
Is it OK to just come along to this meet even if you don't actually own a 75/ZT yet? Do I need to put my name down first or can I just show up?
I fancy coming and getting some advice and viewing the cars whilst showing kids around the museum.

Thanks

P3AHE 2nd October 2015 13:24

We will be attending , having just decided! Will travel up Sunday morning and joining M5 at Strensham at approx. 7.00 am. Be nice to meet all those attending.

Hi John
Where are you staying ?
Most of us ( I think ) are in the Premier Inn as per OP so I guess that's where we will gather.
See you on Saturday.

Hi all you nice people.
Right I have made a quick visit to the meet venue today and met the manager and staff, they certainly seem a friendly and welcoming bunch and the museum is a absolute gem complete with transport café' style tea rooms that sells bacon rolls etc and the coffee is served in mugs.
After chatting with the manager I think that with some careful parking we may all be able to fit into the museum car park and forecourt, I will have another look in the morning with Mr FB to make sure.
The museum have issued me with some vouchers that will give club members discounted entry to the museum.
See you there Cheers Ian

Just a quick update regarding Saturday evening..
After a recce today when it took us 2 hrs to get to Blackpool we have decided to stay local tonight and I have booked a table for 10 at the pub next door..
A few hardy souls have taken the train to Blackpool but should be back to join us later.
Sorry about the late change but I thought no one would want to spend Sat evening in a traffic jam.
Cheers Ian

Sorry folks - just arrived home after a ride in an RAC van. Hope you have a fabulous day. I made it as far as a lay-by on the A50 just past Uttoxeter when whatever it is in my cooling system (HG or a cracked liner or whatever it is) decided to make an appearance. RAC were very helpful but it seemed better to get towed home than try to limp to the event.

Really gutted I missed the museum and all the cars - I was particularly looking forward to seeing the limo. Oh well next time.

This was me waiting for the RAC man - a great bloke, who said "hmmm cooling problems - rare on the v6s aren't they" It could have been much worse.

Well done to the organisers of todays event. Had a ride up this morning , only half hour or so away. Kids loved the lorry museum definitely worth another visit. I couldn't stay has long as I would of liked due to a prior event later in the day. Next time I will hopefully be in my own 75 and have a babysitter for the day so I can have a proper look and chat. Once again well done
