Powerfold vs Normal Switchpack
Thought you guys might find this useful...
Powerfold is always on the left http://i.imgur.com/s9rBl.jpg Dismantled (note the fact that the inside button holder is common between both, both have a hole for the powerfold button) http://i.imgur.com/TPWsu.jpg Button membrane (notice - exactly the same) http://i.imgur.com/xeVOi.jpg Top side of the PCB (notice the powerfold has the extra LED for the button) - uber hi res http://i.imgur.com/dGKWS.jpg Bottom side of the PCB (notice the extra relay, and the few resistors below) - uber hi res http://i.imgur.com/53se0.jpg Interestingly they look very similar... wondering if it's possible to "convert" the PCB's? |
I'm pretty sure BigRuss looked into this, and the cost of parts and time to convert one wasn't really worth it. :(
|
I have converted one of these and between Messenger and myself were going to setup a small production line if there is sufficient demand. Costs should be less than £25 (with your old switchpack in part-ex)
The costs are 90% labour as it took me quite a while to do a neat job. Maybe with practice I will be quicker and the price will fall. I used the small button from the rear window isolation switch for the powerfold function. It even lights up! Photos will follow. |
interested in this and awaiting pics. do the wing mirrors have all the bits fitted to them aswell or is it new mirrors needed too?
|
You need powerfold mirrors, not cheap ;)
