Can anyone show he how this part locates correctly in the bottom of the tank? I was changing the pump but this part was loose when I took the pump out.

There must be some information about that in the forum How-Tos.

Plenty of pictures too.--;)

It clips in to a fitting in the bottom of the tank to the rear of the pump module. With the module removed you can feel the the fitting if you put your hand in the tank towards the rear of the car, or use a small mirror and torch.

the cdt can still run on the under bonnet pump as long as you have more than a quarter of a tank in i have a cdt and its run like that for years rgds mark

Ah, the mystery bit. As far as I can see, nobody actually knows the answer about what it does and what fits to it.

I reckon it is part of the venturi system to equalise the tank levels either side of the saddle TC, and as I mentioned earlier, you can work out where it should fit either by feel or with the aid of a mirror. :}

I know what it is and where it should go, I've done enough of them ;)
Yes Mike it's the pick up for the back of the tank which is a lot lower than where the pump fits ;)

As Mike says above the arm goes toward the back of the tank at an angle,the edge of the square end fits in the rectangular cream piece in the bottom of the tank that you can see in the picture.

It takes a bit of trial and error if you've not done it before but once you get it in the right spot it all fits ;)
