clutch pedal
I had my clutch changed at 102,000 miles- I have now covered 134,000, but have noticed that the bite is quite high. No slipping as yet, but I was wondering what may be causing the issue. It's not a problem as yet and there are no leaks.

Have you checked the fluid height in the clutch master cylinder? No leakage from the pipe on top of the engine at the joint is there ?

It sounds to me like the splines of the input shaft of the gearbox haven't been lubricated when the new clutch was fitted, this leads to the driven plate hanging on the splines and the resultant accelerated wear that occurs.
Such an example can be seen here in pictures........... https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/a...1&d=1581284645 https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/a...1&d=1581284684 https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/a...1&d=1581284684 It is difficult to see in the last picture, but there is a lip worn on the pressure plate, and the clutch driven plate was measured at 6.1mm thick, and .025mm to the rivet heads. Overall not a good job, and the wear took place over just under 9000 miles of 95% motorway driving. I suspect you may find something similar if your clutch was fitted by the same operator ;) Brian :D |
clutch
Unless you had your clutch fitted in Rodley near Leeds I doubt very much it's the same operator Brian. My wife hasn't noticed anything with how the car drives and until she does I think it will be a case of sucking and see! Also, there has never been any juddering since I had the clutch fitted, which I think would happen in your case. In the first instance when I had the original clutch problem at 102000, it didn't get to the slipping stage - it just made a horrible noise under load in reverse.
Thanks for the pictures:smilie_re: |
