75 2.0 Automatic - Gearbox issues

Hello all

I started the car this morning and it won't go when drive is selected. I've tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to no avail. I've ready many times that there are 9 solenoids which could be at fault, but I can't find a live link to a document detailining the required resistances or which plug is used. Can anyone help?

Have you tried any other gears including reverse ?

Thanks for replying. I did try reverse which seems slightly better but still not right. I've jus got it up on stands now and there's oil of some sort all over the place in the area of the gearbox, so I'm guessing the problem is low fluid level caused by a leak. Now to find the leak....

Nevermind - found the leak, cooler pipe split right next to the metal union. Must have gone over a bump!

Well done.

1 new Pipe and 4 litres of new fluid should sort it and the box will be as good as before.:)

Maybe the voltage info regarding gearbox solenoids should be made more readily available.. ? .. :}

There you go. IWhen you are going to refill the box note that the level checking plug is ON THE BOTTOM, do not undo anything on the sides of the box.
The box holds 8 litres. of which you can usually only drain about 4 litres. I do not know how much you could lose with the split pipe.

About 3.5 litres if mine was typical, at least that was what was on the bill to the AA when my cooler pipe was replaced.

Gregg, welcome to the club, if you are in the real Ashington, ie not west Sussex, and you need T4 to check the auto gearbox oil level properly give me a shout.
Cheers
Brian :D
