Door loom entry point - rust.

Hi all,

Has anyone come across rust around the entry point for the wiring loom into the car from the front doors?

My car seems to be affected on both sides.

I'm hoping it's a relatively easy job for a body shop to fix!

If its surface rust Tim, then a rub down treat and paint will suffice, if its eaten away I would cut a repair section from a scrap car and have your bodyshop weld them in for you.

Cheers Andy - unfortunately it's eaten away so it looks like I'll be investigating local body shops!

Cheers,

Tim

I have seen a few with rust around the point the grommet enters, but none to the extent where its eaten it away!

It's a strange one! The car is very low mileage so all I can think it's that water has sat around the rubber fitting around the plug from the door loom, and because the car hasn't been driven is hasn't dried it out?

Although not much water seems to get down there when I wash the car - who knows!

Do you have a sunroof Tim, if so it could be a failed drain pipe allowing water to run down the inside of the A pillar.

Yes the car has a sunroof & they were leaking into the driver's foot well.

If they had failed where would the water end up? The interior is now staying totally dry (I had all the interior out for a few months to make sure there was no moisture getting in anywhere!)
