KV6 running hot

I have a ZT190 that the digital readout on my Android head unit says is running between 95 to 103 degrees. At this temperature the hoses do not seem to be excessively pressurised. An infrared thermometer shows the outside of the top hose at 85 degrees, radiator core at 75. Could this be a faulty sensor or should I be looking for a cause of genuine overheating?

I don't think that is too hot, if in town or slow traffic. The V6 is a hot running engine!

On open road between 85 to 95.
In town it will go up to the start temperature of the the fan, which is what you see.

Just make sure the system is full, and the fan comes on, and there is no reason to worry.

But always keep an eye on it.

If too hot, a stuck thermostat is often the cause, or more often a faulty fan.

Thanks, that seems OK then, the fan is working and the open road readings are as you say. I always keep an eye on the coolant level, it had a leaking pipe to the oil cooler, when I bought it, now replaced with a stainless steel one with new hoses too.

Yes, you are fine!
But don't get complacent.
These car can make you go from hero to zero, pretty fast.
No reason to be paranoid, but all the more reason to be vigilant!
And don't rely on temp gauge. Will show "normal" for anything between 75 and 115 degrees.!:o

That is not much help!:getmecoat:
