A great replacement for a 75?

IMHO, this would be great for someone looking to replace a 75 with a newer car but finds Jaguar XF/XE too "German" in their character. :eek:

:drool4::drool4::drool4:

Mrs MSS found me drooling over it a and just said, go and get it if you want it.

I have so far managed to resist, thinking about the kid's inheritance etc. :duh:

I had a Jaguar XF 2008, fine gentleman!

It could be definitely a car after the Rover 75, let me say this for sure.

I am still stunned by the 75!!! I love that car.

But the Mercedes is also very very nice. What a great model!!! Must watch some Youtube reviews about it. And price is also very good.

What a gem!

lovely looking car the cls. i road tested the 350 petrol when i had my 2.7 s-type diesel and thought it a little underpowered on kickdown but otherwise i could of bought it for its styling and interior alone. the diesels have loads of torque and feel much quicker especially the 350 cls diesel.

MSS 10th February 2019 21:13

The seller also has a V6 diesel of similar age and interior, but the dark red colour of the petrol is just so unusual for a CLS.

The diesel version is here

I think I could live with the slight under-powered feel of the 3.5 litre 292 BHP petrol, but know what you mean.

I drove past this garage a number of times when we were on holiday in Devon and thought they had some cracking cars on the forecourt. I am glad I didn't stop when they were open. :}

if the wife has given you permission go for it. as long as she really means it though. my wife said to me 'go for it if you want it' when i bought my s-type R. what she really meant was 'you dare' and never spoke to me for a week afterwards!

If your wife doesn't mean it and then doesn't speak to you for a week, is that not a bonus :shrug:

And if nothing else, the car linked to here is already set up for an illicit encounter with your "fancy woman", with the seating arrangement thus ;)

She does mean it - my personal charm and charisma never fails with Mrs MSS. :}

She has actually said that I can have a Sportbrake XFR-S or CLS63 provided we also have a family beech-hut on Felixstowe seafront.

So it's a decision on whether I get a CLS 350 now or wait a couple of years and get the XFR-S or the CLS63.

I drove a few Jags today, all brand new, however the best one was probably 20 years old.
I thought it an XJS but no. It may have been an XJ6. Prestige car with a "walnut" dash. I really liked it. Why cant we see a return to wooden dashboards in Jaguars?
Show some real class in these cars.
Jaguar, it used to mean something, now I feel it is just a name.
By all means have your sporty model but also have the posh model

times move on. when i was a kid in the 70's / 80's i loved the wood and leather in the jags and rovers and the more dials on the dashboard and rocker switches the better. todays generation of buyer think it looks dated and want shiny black perspex trim and carbon.
the latest XJ's are as near to the old models as we can hope for unfortunately. the old models weren't appealing to the younger generation so they had to move with the times or fall by the wayside.
