Austin Motor company about to be Tesla killer?

I've been reading about this battery breakthrough that could have 4/5 times the energy density of a Tesla battery & travel 1500 miles on a charge. The British inventor has sold the rights to Austin electric which also owns the rights to use the old Austin motor car logo  It would be fantastic if the Austin marque comes back. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...arging-it.html

I have a huge distaste for Tesla having made components for them for 4 years. This sounds amazing. Brit inventor and Brit classic car marque. I hope they do well! ☺

It makes you wonder how a chap in a shed can find the holy grail of batteries (If it pans out) when the likes of Dyson with all his battery technology who spent multi-millions called it quits on his BEV exploits!

It really would be a feather in the cap for Great Britain if those EV batteries resurrected the Austin name.

Or if Austin resists the huge amounts of money that will offered for the patent and then shelved because it wouldn't make money in the longer term ... oh I'm so sceptical!

It is more of a power pack than a battery as it is not rechargeable but you swap it out for another one.

Sounds intriguing.
Of course all the experts will say it's not a proper Austin despite what the badge says lol

I like the fact that it can be retrofitted to any car you want and in effect turn them into a Hybrid.

I'd imagine those owning a 260 would be quite tempted. :)

I believe it is just as you have said.

Sounds like the way forward. Drawbacks I could see would include you can no longer just put a small amount of fuel in if you are on a tight budget and how much would you lose if you had say 50 miles worth of power left when you had to change cells as the next point is 60 miles away or you leave it to the last opportunity on purpose to get the maximum out of your cell and the next station has run out of cells.

Incredible  why has this not reached the TV news channels, or has it?

The guy has perfected an electrolyte safe enough to drink, only he and his lawyers know the secret liquid formula, how cool is that...

So, Austin Electric will begin putting thousands of Jackson's batteries into electric vehicles next year, why is this not on the news?
