Battery power loss?
Will a battery lose some of its power disconnected from the car for storage purposes, Rev. |
Yes, all batteries loose stored power when inactive, some faster than others. I store my 4 stroke mower's battery but have to keep a trickle charger affixed for it to stay in any sort of shape. That's why you can buy "battery condition" devices to keep in a happy state.

After charging my battery and showing fully charged would it be possible for it too show half charged after three days??? Rev. |
Something is wrong there.
I have a normal lead/acid 12V battery I keep under the bench in the shed, obviously not connected to anything. Used for testing stuff etc. It'll hold pretty much full change for quite a few weeks at a time. What's telling you it's half charged? Do you have a volt meter to test the battery? Here's a table. It's not quite complete because there's a bit of variation with temperature and it's better to test the specific gravity of the electrolyte (the sulphuric acid) but it's a start (no pun intended ;)). Good luck with finding out what's going on. Andy. https://image.slidesharecdn.com/dscm...?cb=1297171312 |

The chart in a previous post can be of some help so have a good look at it. As noted in that post the battery has to settle after being charged in order for you to get a reasonable accurate reading. The three days you are talking about, was that on the car and being used ?? PS. How did you charge you battery and for how long ?? |

If it is dying within 3 days then I would say the battery is dead and beyond recovery. Likelyhood that some of the plates have crumbled and causing internal cell lowered resistance. How old is the battery? Has it always been kept charged up?
New battery needed seems to be on the horizon if not already here. |

I used three different testers all came back as the battery is in good working order. https://i.imgur.com/C1LNpdvl.jpg1 https://i.imgur.com/hxyKR4nl.jpg2 https://i.imgur.com/b8a7Rurl.jpg3 The battery gets charged up on this battery charger when it needs it. https://i.imgur.com/BRZTCigl.jpg4 STATE OF BATTERY CHARGE SET OUT BELOW. Just been out this morning it is now showing Hal charged, have you ever used one of those battery isolators, thinking of putting one of them on to see if it could be down to something taking the power out of it. |
