noise gear/clutch
 
when i am sitting at a junction . as i pull away i get a loud groaning noise from what appears to be the gears/clutch anyone got any ideas cheers . nick nick: shrug: :shrug: :shrug:

Mine does this now and again. Didn't Rover use a different clutch plate for a while in 2003, made from another material or less the springs or something.
They later reverted to the old type when they found out it was no good.
Nothing to worry about though I believe. :)

Mine does it occasionally, my local rover dealer told me, before it all went t-its up that there was a factory bulletin about it, there was not a problem but i can't recall the reason, perhaps someone can find the factory information? sounds like a cow mooing!!!!!

JDC it would be late 2004, i got my car june 2004 and it was one of the first things i noticed!!!

Hu,

yes, Rover changed the clutch plates during project drive. They hadn't springs (torsion springs) any more and so they may make sometimes a vibration noise.

There was a bulletin to Rover dealers to change without costs for the customer.
