Dashcams!
I've just been trying to set the correct time on my dashcam since the clocks went forward & noticed my Nextbase dashcam I've had for years has no battery charge in it, I can't seem to change the time even with it powered up
Looking online it seems you have to disassemble the PCB inside, remove it & resolder a new one in. I'm not keen on attempting to do it myself as The PCB is tiny & I'm a clumsy get :D:eek: Has anyone else found a place that puts a new battery into these things or is it a case of getting a new one? |
Hi Ian.
I've replaced the battery in my Garmin and yes, it's tight and fiddly so if you're actually a bit clumsy I'd stay well clear of the job. Sadly I reckon it's time for you to buy a new one. Happy shopping. :} Andy. |

I think you're right Andy, Out with the old & in with the new. |

Just bit the bullet & ordered a Nextbase 222X front & rear dashcam.Bang goes getting the new Edinburgh-Glasgow route for TSW4. |
I’ve got a few Nextbase dashcams - 112, 212 and 3x 312s. I’ve replaced the batteries in all of them.
If you’ve got one with GPS, as long as you set the correct time zone, i.e. GMT+1 - it will pick up the correct time when it locks on to a satellite. The 112 is not very good. I also bought a new-ish model, but I wasn’t impressed with it, so it got ebayed. The 312 is my favourite and two of the ones I have were bought second hand on eBay. I’ve got a 312 on the front of my daily and a 212 on the back, both of which are permanently powered when the ignition is on. Since replacing the batteries in them, I have taken to occasionally switching them on manually after turning off the ignition, so they will run the batteries down and hopefully will last longer this time. |
Sometimes the nextbase units just need removed from the car and charged via a plug. Charging whilst they are running isn’t very efficient

Something else that has just occurred to me…if you are trying to change the time with it powered up, make sure you have stopped it recording. It starts recording as soon as it is powered up, so it won’t let you change anything, I believe.

Thanks for the tips daveo138 & sworks, I'll try them out & will pass this onto my daughter, It's a 323 (I think)
I just couldn't get the time right, I was able to change the time but by the time I'd clicked OK it went back to the old time. There is a dedicated dashcam feed behind the mirror on the ZS EV which makes things easier. |
The new nextbase 222x arrived yesterday morning & I spent haf the day trying to get the rearview camera to function, It's not recording files for that camera  Going to email the seller & see what they say or if I'm missing something. Looking at YT vids of it, it's not only me who is having trouble with the rearview camera function.

I sent it back, I couldn't get the rearview camera function to work even with the instructions they gave me which I'd already tried.
