I drilled a small punch sized hole to the side of the spinning rivnut. Found drilling in reverse avoided breaking off the fine drill bit since it kept snagging otherwise and I lost a couple of tips which I had to punch out.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0606b05cff.jpg
How I used a punch to lock the rivnut and unscrew the bolt which had soaked for 24hrs in Plusgas.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...185d59d8da.jpg Final result and damage. I drilled out the rivnut and pushed it through. Hope it doesn’t rattle too much wherever it went !https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dd94062e82.jpg This shows the M10 rivnut compressed thoroughly onto wet metal paint. I think the original rivnuts were put into holes that had been drilled slightly too large since I only had to enlarge one of the four holes to get an M10 in!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ffee5fe65d.jpg Then hot melt glue was injected into the rivnut and a smaller pilot hole placed centrally to receive the s/s self tapper.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...65fab00ff1.jpg Finally ready for the refurbished near side tail light.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e911399941.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
