Duff batteries
Yes, duff batteries. I bought a yuasa battery yesterday morning for the diesel,four year guarantee. Put the meter on it when I got home, and it was registering 10.8volts. The same as the one I took off that I reckon has got a duff cell. Date on battery was 8/19. Presume that is 8th month 2019? Lesson learned:- take your meter with you when shopping for batteries.Phoned the company up and they said to bring it back and we will check it over and give you a new one. Thank you very much, very kind of you.(sark)

PS. If you had tried charging your first battery you might have found that it charged up OK. |
If you need a battery try Tayna batteries.:}

Hi Jon. I did try to charge the battery that I took off back up. It was reading 10.8 volts. It charged up ok. I left it at 12.9 volts on the nighttime, and in the morning it was down again to 10.8. I think that is a sure sign that one cell has given up the ghost. The new one when I came to fit it, the voltage was...........10.8 on my meter. Fitted it knowing what the result would be, and just ticking from the dashboard lights and dials.
Took it back and this time when it was exchanged, I had a printout of sorts that it was 100%. No actual reading. The 8/21 according to the instructions on the side of the battery denotes the re-charge date if it is not sold by that date.The date on the other one was I think, 5/19 Which was when it should have to have its first recharge. My guess it was never done, and if it was, it means the battery was around 18/24 months old. Checked this later one before it was fitted and it flew over on turning the ignition key to start. |
could ve worse, i just bought a new battery for my jeep grand cherokee and ht was about $500 Aud.
They use a AGM battery, pretty big as well. The car still had the original factory battery (6 years and still working fine) Thought id better change it as 6 years must be getting near end of life. Got a Century/ Yusa battery, they have just increased their warranty to 36 months over here. |
