I'm not much into photography myself but I understand the very basics and this seems to be pretty well spec'd. She is into movie making and editing so the 720p video capture feature is great for her. Not seen such a high spec camera for anywhere close to this price and such a good brand as well. The reviews are pretty glowing too!

yeah just reading this

it says the S2800HD 9which i have) is one of it's main rivals :D, you cant go wrong for the money, also worth taking out the extra warrenty for what it will cost

this is the updated version of mine

worth a gander

I'd normally agree but if you concider it's half price then its a £260 item plus, in my case, it'll be in the hands of a teenager so may be worthwhile....

consider the fujifilm camera, this one is also on offer, as its the updated version of mine which cost me £220 11 months ago, as fujifilm offer what is called the super warrenty,
4 years total protection for £60, including accidental damage, i took it out myself.

I bought one of those Nikons for my nephews 18th birthday recently. A lovely camera but for the batteries. He uses it for a day and the batteries are gobbled up, so he buys cheap ones. Bear it in mind that most of these Bridge cameras which reply on batteries like Duracell are power hungry. £129 is a good price. It is a tough decision.

i use rechargable, cuts the cost right down, lasts a lot longer than a standard battery
