Head lights
What is the best stuff for cleaning mrk 2 head light lens.
|
Not sure if the MK2's lenses are of the same material, but mine is a MK1 and I used a T-Cut Headlight Restoration Kit sourced on E-Bay, cost £8.99. No power tools needed, just some elbow grease. Did a good job, and resulted in a noticeable improvement. The poor state of the lenses were one of its last MOT's advisories.

Me at a Nano :D:D:D:D.
Seriously - most of the kits are pretty good. If you have access to a polisher then it's wet and dry from 800 (if they're bad) working through 1000, 1200 & 1500 (alternating grades up/down and left/right) then a course followed by a fine polish and finally you need a sealant with UV blocking properties. Remember to mask off around the lights and better to do a bit on each and go back again so the lenses don't get hot while being polished. Have fun. :} Andy. |
The 3M headlight restoration kits are good if you want to do a proper job.
The 'cleaners' are just a temporary fix & you'll be lucky if it lasts. |
