You say it was held on with rubber plugs? Was there not four short bolts that held it on?

no bolts ,4 holes filled with a black rubber stuff may be it was some form of adhesive will have to check it out ,if it had been bolted on it would not have come off

There has to be bolts (normal factory mounting) or, at least, some other sort of mechanical securing. Anything less would be dangerous to others. Maybe the black rubber stuff is smeared around the bolts to stop water leaking in.

Cheers,
Glenn

There are 4 bolts, two each side that hold it to the boot lid. You have not pulled the spoiler off and left the bolts in the boot lid have you? If however, the spoiler was glued onto the boot lid, it is a wonder that it has not blown away with the wind. To get to the two bolts you have to remove the rubber bungs that I think you refer to, which you twist one way or the other to adjust the boot lid closure. Take those out and you should find the bolts have come out of the spoiler, and will be rattling about in the lid. I can not believe that it was just stuck on with glue. The gasket that goes between the spoiler and lid is very, very sticky, but I am sure it would not hold the spoiler in place on it’s own.
