Another minor niggle
 

I posted a week or so ago that my 75 CDT was starting to lose water. I have had the car up on a four post lift and searched for any water loss.

I can see NO signs of any leak:shrug: Or any dried antifreeze anywhere.ith or without the engine running

So where could it be going,

the only thing I have done recently is to flush the Heater Matrix out and replaced the Anti Freeze,Could it be a massive airlock that is slowly being removed as it did not seem to take much water to fill it up again.?

could it be going into the oil VIA the oil cooler..These fail and can give similar symptoms to HGF..ie water in oil

You sure it's not the 'y' section water outlet underneath the engine cover? Worth taking it off and having a look, they go brittle over time and it is a common fault.

At the moment I can't detect any water in the oil, but as this only just starting to get a little worse I will have to check

I cant see any obvious leak in that area:shrug:

Possible O ring on the header tank cap, I’ve seen that a few times, leading to minimal loss

I think this is true. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. )

There is a chemical that can be put into the header tank. Harmless to the engine. Using ultra violet light even the very smallest traces of leakage can be seen.. Things the naked eye can't detect. ( I think. :shrug:---Lol. )

I think you're right Jon. When Dawn had a lot of leakage problems on her white Cowley car, a couple of members told her to use it.

The common leak points for the M47R are radiator top hose connection to the cylinder head, thermostat housing or the O ring on the pipe that attaches to the thermostat.

You could try a cold pressure test. Leave overnight at 12 or so psi with cardboard under the engine and trace any leaks back in the morning.
