Webasto heaters

Hi all, are the webasto heaters all the same in our cars or are they different depending on year of manufacture, whether the car was bought with the optional remote and/or timer unit?

Also apart from the unit and dosing pump is there anything else needed to retrofit it to a car? Is all the pipe work (fuel and coolant), wiring etc already in the car?

Cheers, Graham.

Hi,

There are two types fitted to our cars, one is triggered by a negative signal, the other by a positive (The negative one is the most common)

They can be fitted easily as all cars have the loom and fuel pipe in place, the remote (Telestart) Was an option.

Its easy enough to wire in a Gsm remote or a timer to trigger start up 15 mins before you plan to use the car so the engine is nice and warm, its also easy to wire in the ATC unit so it turns on and warms up the cabin ready for you.

Do you need a T80 telestart as well Andy?

Brill, how can I tell which unit I’m looking at? I’ve found one with the number 66724A on it? Failing that can a +ve trigger unit be converted to a -ve trigger?

Apart from the dozing pump my two cars had everything else in situ

One thing to bear in mind is that the vast majority of secondhand Webasto's are faulty (the PCB'S are notorious for developing faults) although they can be repaired.

Assume that unless it states working it's faulty, especially if says untested.

There is a how to on here which describe the two units (Sorry I cant find it) The + or - isn't an issue, if its a 12v trigger then its a straightforward signal from your device of choice, if its a - start, then you just need to wire in a relay to switch the negative, dead easy to do, I have the same set up in 3 of our cars.

There are only two variants of the FBH fitted to the 75, most are later model 98570B, early cars had a model 66232C, you need to be certain which model you have when testing. The model number should be on the Webasto sticker on the side of the

Remote starting For 98570B - its earth to Pin 3

Remote starting for 66232c - its +12v to Pin 1

As Trikey says it doesn’t matter which one you have as long as you know which one it is and wire the remote accordingly

You will need a working FBH, dosing pump and exhaust for a basic installation, the wiring will be present in the car , if you want to start it remotely then that can be done once you have it installed and working

Thanks guys for your help, I’m just a bit confused now about the heater I’m looking at with it’s number 66724a. What’s this one? The seller is saying it’s from a 75.

Do you have a sticker on the side of the heater if so can you match it one of the numbers in my earlier post

If I could ask - mine is factory fitted and there’s the digital timer in the cubby: I’ve bought the modified Nokia phone and dpdt relay, does the phone kit work with the factory controller or replace it? 2004 car.

The phone works alongside the kit, just one trigger wire from the phone to start the heater.

Your post could confuse people, for example 12v, is that from the live or the neutral? It is earth which is negative so you can just use an earth to the pin.

Is it earth for both models or just one of them? If someone could please advise.

One is a 12v positive to trigger the heater, the other is triggered by a negative signal.
