FLYING BANANA 15th April 2024 12:28

Our first event of 2024……………..

……………………… was a success. I wasn’t sure if the ankle would hold up on the drive up but it did well, ached a bit. I walked a bit too much and should have used the crutch more but then it got in the way of me taking photos.
By the time I got to the hotel in Banbury the ankle had swollen and ached a lot. But I got a pint of ice from the bar and wrapped a towel around the ankle with the ice wrapped up. Ankle raised so it was inline with my hips. And I rested for about an hour before going downstairs for food and a pint.

After dinner I got two more pints of ice and back to the room. Kept the ankle wrapped up for a couple of hours, and took painkillers. Turned and slept most of the night.
After breakfast we set off for home. Just past the hotel there was a petrol station, so I topped up the tank. My sat nav took me across county, and we joined the M5 at Gloucester.

408 miles round trip and she never missed a beat. Wound the elastic band up and we hit 3 numbers of 69.9mph aka Warp Factor 3. It was so good to get back behind the wheel of my all time favourite car. According to the Sat Nav we would be home by 12.25. And we only stopped the once and got home by 12.15, that tail wind must have helped. We left Banbury in heavy rain and gale force winds. And arrived in Saltash in glorious sunshine, and a biting cold wind.

All I. All a cracking weekend meeting up with old friends, and making some new ones as well.

Good to see you and Banana again Bob.

It was nice finally meeting you and your car. As you say it was a great day. Considering the injury you sustained to your ankle you have made a good recovery in such a short time. You did well driving that distance. I returned home today and had rain on and off most of the way home think i saw hail at one point but the good thing no salt on the roads.

Been out and checked Banana over. Used no oil or water. Topped up the screen wash. Topped up with Banana juice. According to the message panel we averaged 41.8mpg but I worked out to 38.2mpg. Happy with that.
