Passenger Seat Height Increase Needed
 

My wife is now having greater difficulty getting into the passenger seat and would benefit from the seat being higher - about 2" - 3".
Has any member any advice on how to achieve this please?
Possibly packing the seat fixings and fitting longer bolts?
Or maybe finding and fitting a drivers seat from a left hand drive 75?
Any advice/experience sharing will be appreciated.
This is becoming critical as a change to a 'higher car' is being promoted and I don't want to lose my 75.!

The idea of fitting a left hand drive seat is certainly good but I'd guess transportation costs would be prohibitive. Rover SD1 used quite large spacers between the seat rails and the floor, about 3/8" but I doubt that would be enough lift to keep the good lady happy.

Thanks to Mike Trident - I'm only 76 so not too old to enjoy the 75!
Thanks to Roigue - tried a cushion but it's not acceptable to the good lady although it's the easiest solution.
Thanks to Vitesse - I've followed up your link and asked for a quote. Expecting it to be too high to resolve my problem. Will follow up to see if there just happens to be a LHD Rover 75 in the UK being dismantled somewhere.
Any other thoughts/advice will still be welcomed.

:shrug: Is raising the seat a couple of inches really going to help ?

perhaps it's time to consider a change of Vehicle ?



I'm currently driver for my Mother - I'd rather we be driving in my 75 - however the Car is too low for my Mother to comfortably enter/exit - so, despite my dislike for the Vauxhall Grandland X (I should add it has a few Good points... the 3cylinder 1.2 130ps Engine :cool:) I drive my Mother in her own Car - much better for getting in and out as the Sill/Seat/Roof are all higher and the opening is larger.

I love my Rover 75 and favour a long low saloon style - I don't do form over function tho - if I had to choose only one car of these two - at this time i'd have to choose the Grandland X :}

Suzublu has suggested you carried out the fitting of a LHD drivers seat into a RHD Rover 75 for your Dad.
He suggested I could ask you if all worked well and how it was done ie did it mean a direct replacement - both mechanically and electrically so the replacement seat could be adjusted to be higher?
Any advice will be very welcome.

Cannot see how 2"-3" is going to make a difference, didn't with SWMBO. I raised her drivers seat this much

I had the same problem on my 600, I did manage to raise it ( longer bolts and distance pieces) about and inch and a half but it wasn't the answer. I was worried about the safety issue,in my opinion it needed a deep box or 'U' of steel in between the seat frame and the floor fixings to make good job of it. It didn't get done! Cars now gone. And she manages ok in the ZT-although she has mentioned how nice it would be to have height adjustable as my all singing/dancing seat.:D Chris S.
