Photocard licence?

My good lady's photocard driving license was due to expire under the 10 year rule in May. We renewed her licence and the new one expires in October as she will be 70! Doh!:duh: Don't forget to check your licence expiry date folks!;)

Hopefully won't be a long wait till you get the new licence seen something about DVLA staff watching Netflix while there is huge delays!

My wife's photocard is due in the next couple of months, so will have to remind her to renew.

Well, have just noticed that my wife's licence expired two years ago: we never had a renewal letter as the Gov website says you will. And having gone on the said website and inputted all the relevant info the final screen says "ineligible to renew online." It seems we have to complete a paper form from the Post Office. There's also a notice that says there'll be a delay of TEN WEEKS due to Covid and a strike by the unions.

Don't think I've had a renewal letter either in the past thinking about it, most likely done mine online nearer the time it was due to expire.

Mine is due for renewal soon and I received the notice three weeks ago, asking me to include it in my reply. They seem to have forgotten that I voluntarily surrendered it seven months ago. What's the betting it's got coffee rings on it. At the back of a cupboard. Under the stairs.

New motto: Don't Volunteer Licences Automatically.

I went through that rigmarole as my photo was over ten years old & had to be replaced by an up to date one, I had to go to a post office that had a digital camera booth as I don't have a passport they could lift the picture from. It took over 12 weeks to get my new licence

I still have my original paper licence that I got back in the '70s. Doesn't expire 'till I'm 70 (not so long away now though!).
