I am out of my depth.

I will check the links you gave me thank you macafee2 |
For the crimp tool, have a look at homebase. I am nearly sure they had some crimp tools for network use quite cheap but looked fairly robust.

I have ordered one of these from Robti's post
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 a lot more then I wanted to spend, in fact about double but I can replace a number of other broken rj45 plugs and if it solves the problem, the expense wont be an issue macafee2 |
Crimping tool arrived and also arrived are the RJ45 plugs from RS components. I found a video on YouTube on how to fan out the Lan wires and insert them into the plug. Doing the first one I did think "I'm never going to be able to do this" but I have now changed 3 plugs.
Don't yet know if it has solved the problem but I have not had a reoccurring fault in the 31 hours since I changed the plugs so fingers crossed. macafee2 |
