This boy is the richest kid I know.
When I was his age I had a push bike.
This one has 10 cars as well.
Still very sceptical.

Always wanted one but never got. My parents said that a racing bike would be better suited to a paper round, which I thought was odd as I didn't have one at the time ... little did I know what they were planning for me lol.

:smilie_re: With hindsight a Raleigh Chopper would have been a good investment all those years ago. Good to see that you have an eye for a classic.

NigelOBB 14th November 2017 05:27

Mine had the 5speed option, Nearly killed myself racing my mate on his Arena lol.. front wheel lost it just after I overtook him, and I went head first down an ash felt path lol still got some of the scars 40something years later 🤣

I had a Mark 2 identical to this one when I was Thomas's age, really loved the gear selector T bar as it reminded me of my Dad's XJ6 selector

https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/a...1&d=1510644243

Yes, for anyone doubting the credibility of Rover2003, I can confirm that Thomas is a very pleasant and genuine young man who has a passion for cars at just 14 which he has clearly got from his father who was with him at the NEC. We all had a good chat for about half an hour. His Dad acquires the cars with a view to either using, fixing up, or passing on, and on occasions just 'gifts' them to his son, so Thomas currently has an MGF and the 75.

His dad didn't know that Thomas was posting at 2am in the morning though, so I think I dropped him in it there. :o

Gate Keeper 14th November 2017 06:53

What a fantastic experience for Thomas be able to learn about cars and repairs at his age, positive thoughts for the future. The chopper bike was one of those must haves to be seen with. I didn’t have one, but a mate did and he always had to be the first one through the farm gates. Later on in life he remains competitive and drives a BMW mark 4 ;)

still have the mark 2 but its getting restored so it ain't going no where

Dorset Bob 3rd June 2019 11:50

The Chopper reminds me of being a youngster.
My parents never got me one though. :sad3:

I quite like this one, I am not sure if it is a Mk1 or a Mk2 :D

mk1 the mk 2 curves to stop wheelies as a lot of injurys happened

madeupname 3rd June 2019 11:59

I had those handlebars on a different bike, never had a chopper. As for injuries, if you do a wheelie on that bike your hands will quickly slip off the handles and you'll need a dab of butter on the bump emerging on the back of your head (been there, done that)
:D

tried a wheelie on my one was doing it fine but cause the frame curved to stop you my wheel loosening to straighten it with the frame

@championdaddy , Am I detecting a touch of jealousy? I wouldn't mind having 10 classic cars either though...

@Rover2003, just remember not to slam on the brakes on that chopper. The gearstick positioning would not make for a comfortable crash.

I wouldn't mind getting a retro toy, namely a sinclair C5. Have fun with the chopper, my friend has one and it's great fun.

It would make a good restoration project. How do I tell if it's a Mk1 or a Mk 2.:D

Chopper or racing bike, I envy you. I got a Moulton!!

Nothing better than having a pretty lady play with your Mk1 knob, it certainly is better than a rapid stop while giving your mate a backer, when you slide forward off the seat

My Chopper ended up with Grifter forks, handlebars and front wheel, a suitable conversion for the bike :D

And it's a lot smaller than I remember.

I think it might be smaller than the OP is looking for.

Is this common with advancing age?:o

My big sister had one and I used to borrow it to do my paper round. ;)
Very little street cred there. :o
Plus, my flares kept getting caught up in the chain. :getmecoat:
