Winter Woes #1 - Driver’s Window Mech Self-Destruction

Oh, the joy...

Uber-frost this morning...and I made the stupid mistake of attempting to lower the drivers window whilst it was still frozen.

Cue complex-sounding grinding, banging and whirring noises and a stationary window...

:duh: oops :o the thread title is a bit misleading tho - "Operator Error" rather than "Self Destruction" ;)

Paul.

Thing is, once you have pressed the button, that window wants to come down!

PS, On frosty mornings, I always take a 2L milk bottle full of warm (not hot) water to pour over windscreen and side windows. If the doors won't open, I go back for a re-fill. MUST get the FBH working!

Probably the cable has broken the plastic clip as per here.

Cheers! :)

What’s the general consensus re. best option? Repair or purchase a known good complete SH replacement?

Very expensive for new (see Rimmers). I bought an excellent S/H plenty on eBay. Make sure you grease cable and pulley wheel well. Not a difficult job at all.

Yes but if you are quick enough pushing the up button it shouldn't strain it too much. :}
