Trip to NZ
Hi, after hearing the news about NZ going to open up to international travel in the new year after fully vaccinating their population, I felt the blood rush to my head and booked a return going out late January. The ticket is amendable and refundable so not too much of a risk. Just learnt form a friend that Dubai rates the UK as a high risk COVID country, this got me thinking that NZ may well think the same and we won’t be allowed to enter quarantine free, which would scupper our trip in January. We are desperate to go to see the grandkids and family. I suppose we may yet be in further COVID restrictions here by then.

I am registered with UK.GOV for updates by email concerning the UK and Kenya. Are you registered with the same but for UK and NZ? if not if I may suggest, you do so. Interestingly, Eire removed the UK from its hotel quarantine list on 16 July providing travellers were fully vaccinated and tested, other restrictions cite self quarantine for 14 days.

Thanks will look into it. I read from on line no web sites to find information.

Just been told from son who lives in NZ that UK is on their red list! Oh dear, I thought we were doing well.

The question must be, do you trust these lunatics, or have you got in the plan to remain there:
The Eagles said it well: Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, 'We are programmed to receive. You can check out any time you like, But you can never leave ...” |
There we go.::cool:
Lockdown for NZ. ONE case of Covid. You can't make this up. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/ne...=mw_latestnews And this is of course totally in vain. Covid behaves like flu, and it is just a matter of time before it will spread. It will eventually just become another flu and we will all get it, sooner or later. I wonder who advises that poor woman. |
NZ are going into a short lockdown nationwide due to one case in Auckland. When they are fully vaccinated and open up their borders, they will not be able to hold the line. I do hope we get there at some point next year, it depends on their view of how UK is doing with regard to COVID, at the moment they obviously don’t think we are doing well.

I have ignored this comment about the UK not doing well. In fact, which country is and can hold it at that level.
We are looking at flights from from Nairobi to Dublin, then a hotel or house rental for 2 weeks in Dublin before flying to London. Kenya is on the UK red list so we are unable to get a direct flight. Eire has removed travellers from its hotel quarantine list providing they are double vaccinated and negative tested. We need to get to the UK as I have a stack of things piling up to sort out: the UK state pension, I have an aneurysm vascular scan booked next month in Bristol, tie up some loose ends regarding the Rover 75, see family and friends. I hate it when someone runs down the UK during these challenging and changing times. Okay he is entitled to his opinion. The only way of getting into NZ is via the Cook Islands providing certain requirements are met. How did I find out? I checked out NZ border control ;) |
I think we should all relax. I cannot for the life of me see that he has said the UK is not doing well!
AND, IF he HAD said that, that would be his opinion, and he would be entitled to it, as are you to yours! Give a bit of slack, God knows we have far too many who think they are entitled to run our lives! I for one am worried about not being able to see family and friends with the idiots in charge making arbitrary rules. My mom stopped telling me what I have to do when I was 15! I am looking for a replacement!:D |
