Rear Springs & Shocks need fitting on my 75. Fitted price

Hi just had 4 new tyres fitted and tracking done.
However with the rear wheels off they found that both rear springs are broken and the shock are leaking. They did show me and it is correct.
I cannot do the work myself as i am 65 & disabled.
ATS fitted the tyres and have quoted me £400 to fit 2 spring & 2 shocks. Is this around average price?
Any suggestions where to get them fitted in Cumbria?

Two rear springs and dampers will cost around £220 - £260. £350ish including fitting would be a reasonable price.

If you can head down to Southport, we can do it for you here - but admittedly it's quite a long trek!
I'd estimate including parts it'd be around £300.

Why do people quote VAT as a plus to any price in the motor trade as if it's a crowning achievement, it's a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- meaningless tax for ripping off the public, why don't they just say the cost was 336 GBP. We all know VAT is payable!!.

worse is when they give you a price but do not tell you it is plus vat.

If you are a business you need to know the price without VAT, all part of your input/output account for VAT.

And if I remember correctly (all the way back to the 70s, when we were promised the Earth if we voted to join the EU), wasn't VAT a European tax, in which case it should now be cancelled...?
