retrimming sagging headlining or replacement near Essex

Hi all,

The headlining on my Dad's 75 has slowly been sagging from the front back for months now and it's now in desperate need of replacing.

I'm ordering some sample materials off ebay to find the closest match. From what I've read on this subject no one has found a very close match to the factory sandstone colour headlining? I'm not too fussed about it not matching perfectly.

Has anyone retrimmed their headlining and found a source for a material that matched well enough? Looking to order some foam backed material so it still has the soft touch feel.

And is there any adhesive highly recommended that holds well? I've already got some cans that were recommended last time (trim fix I believe it's called from memory, grey cans with red lids) but if there's any others highly recommended please let me know.

Or alternatively is there anyone in or near the Essex area that has a good condition sandstone saloon non sunroof headlining available for sale?

Cheers
Rick

Jim jamieson done this to his 75 a few years ago worth a search as I think he done a how to as well as who supplied the materials.

No sign of a how to but there is this:

I got my lining from Martrim, Unit 10 Millbuck Way, Springvale Industrial Estate, Sandbach, Cheshire colour was oatmeal.
It cost me £60 but I ordered a bit extra. I finished up with enough material to do another saloon headliner. I used two aerosols of contact spray also supplied from Martrim.

Martrim still exists. Only reference I can see to "oatmeal" is in the Range Rover headlining kit.

Hi Rick,
Decent looking one here I spotted but probably a bit too far away for you. Tony

This member looked to have carried out a top job, though I imagine the oatmeal is perhaps a closer match to smokestone rather than sandstone?

Same principle as the how to I did in 2012 on a Montego. It's not that difficult https://maestro.org.uk/forums/forum/...g-on-a-montego
