Boot - Water ingress

Well here's a surprise water is getting into my boot, but not via the usual suspects. There is a boot liner fitted and the water is getting on TOP of it, so I can rule out rear light seals, waist trim seals and having inspected it there is no leak from the windscreen clips, it becomes worse if the car is parked with the boot downhill (hardly leaks at all with the boot parked uphill) I thought it might be the seal so I replaced it, there is still water on top of the liner after heavy rain, there is no sunroof, so how the heck is it getting in? any ideas?

Get in the boot with a torch and get someone to hose it from all angles, you might be lucky and see where it's coming from.
I think it's unusual for a 1999 model,,just a thought though,it might be that the boot lid isn't closing onto the seal fully, you can adjust it with the rubber posts by screwing them in a bit,,but this may also alter the locking position,,a bit of trial and error I'm afraid.

The only other thing I've read about is that the boot hinges sometimes leak; as above, in the boot with a torch might be your best bet, or perhaps some paper on top of the boot liner to get a better idea of where the drips are coming from.

From what I've read on here over the years, I'd also be looking at something boot related. The suggestions previously are good.

Putting a bit of talc down in suspect areas is always a good way of 'tracking' water.

It will be the rear screen that is leaking, the clips at the bottom of the screen will need sealing, it will look like the hinges are leaking but they wont be, it will be the rear screen.. :)
