Alcantara seats - are they the same as the standard seats comfort-wise?

Hi all, I have the opportunity to come by some ZT saloon alcantara seats. From the pics they look like the gunsmoke ones, which I thought would look nice in my LEF ZT.

However I'm reading that the alcantara seats are firmer than the standard ones and can be uncomfortable? Is this a thing or just psychological?

Aren't they just the same seats with a different covering?

Also, the seats I currently have are the grey cloth with the herringbone type pattern on them. Are these half leather, as the bolsters on them are worn but it looks to me like PVC?

I have blue/gold matrix in one of my ZTs, and black alcantara in the other. Haven't noticed any difference in comfort over the six years I have owned both. However, both are harder than any 75 seats, except the Contemporary as they are a more sporty style. Also, of course, the suspension set-up on the ZTs is firmer as well.

Great thanks, I find the ZT seats to be the most comfortable I've ever owned, one of the main reasons I still continue to run a ZT, I was worried the alcantara may be a little too hard but also thought they can't be that different just by being a different covering surely?

I'll give them a go, thanks.:)

I swopped my Standard Rover 75 seats for Alcantra ones as I found the originals to soft on long journeys and was always moving position to get comfortable.

I found the Alcantras with the side bolsters although firmer were a lot more comfortable. But that is how they were for me.

I did exactly the same..

The only problem I have found with them is that the regularly require a shave.
They go a bit bobbly and I use one of the clothes shavers on them which smartens them up but they are very comfortable.
Were they an option on the ZT as you don't see that many with them

Yes, they were on option, and a very expensive one at that (from memory). They generally appear in "Monogram" versions, where the original owner ticked every option box ! Certainly the case with my Chatsworth ZT.

Are the sides actually leather or just decent vinyl?

coolguy 11th August 2020 23:28

Mine are leather around the actual seat, but as for the side bolsters, don't think so - mine was split when I bought the car (although brilliant condition everywhere else), but subsequently repaired.
