Oh my!

I'm truly shocked!

:eek::eek::eek:

Did you just spot the problem, or did it fail on you?

roverbarmy 10th February 2020 15:35

Snap! If you'll pardon the pun. Difficult to spot without removing the wheels as the undersides tend to be fairly sound.
They make for scary viewing:-

No, as per title, it passed in August. And MOTs here are done in government run centres, not garages!

Anyway, it's being ripped apart and fixed as we speak... one of the springs is broken too, apparently

Hi Roger.
Wow how was that missed I check mine at least twice a year, by scraping along each edge and in& around the cup, if all is good then I give it a lick of protection until next check.

Someone is going to be in trouble for missing that on a MOT how did stand the shake test ?

Hey Steve :D I dunno mate, if you're familiar with the MOT centres over here they’re pretty rigorous, but I still feel like a guilty schoolboy in the headmaster’s office when I go, so run away quickly afterwards feeling like I’ve got away with something…

I know the shake test looks pretty severe… anyway, nothing that a small fortune won’t fix, and in the meantime I’m driving round in the mechanic’s courtesy car, one of those Chinese MG6 machines. Quite a pleasant car from a performance and handling point of view, but various sensors are always giving trouble on it, telling me that the tyres are flat, the “uphill holding” isn't available etc.

And it has one of those utterly hateful start/stop thingies

Dead easy, the DVA in N.I. are down to one ramp in 20 as the ramps have all developed cracks, and there is a four month exemption from testing currently in place.

Sounds really dodgy, and to be fair I've seen worse than that missed on the mainland, at an ex MG dealer, with the DVSA "ministry man" present during the test

Brian :D

Mine was done before all that Brian - it definitely got its nerves shook and its brain rattled ;)

No wonder your key is broken Roger

I've got some nice new switches if you want to post me your remote PCB while you are waiting to get the arm changed
