Yesterday morning my friend was moored at Wroxham enjoying his breakfast and watched a 7ft tall boat try to get under a 6ft bridge. Crash, bang, wallop. :duh::duh::duh:

Amazed the technique is to ram it with a pointed prow from behind to release it. Bit of extra weight from a few bodies transferred from the 'pushing' boat onto the stuck one possibly?

Extra weight is the way that it is usually done but the water was rising, the boat was almost through and a speedy result was needed to avoid further damage to the bridge (more costly to repair than the boat it seems!).

Wroxham is a great place to watch the "newbies" getting into trouble. Reedham is another "fun" spot, with hire boats spotting the pub whilst travelling downstream, attempting to turn round against the tide, then running almost sideways, hitting the local boats or the bridge in the process.

More fun and games:-

I thought you were only allowed under Potter Heigham if one of the pilots was at the helm?
