Paul good temporary fix but alas I think it will now last long, no sooner PB find out what the loop hole is it will be closed.

Personally I think member would be better off using there time and effort retracing over their own threads and replacing the photo's using another hosing site, I have been doing this for at least 9 months when PB started to get slow and cumbersome, now massive task :eek: is needed to deal with the aftermath they have created for all forums even Ebay sellers are affected.

Thankfully I didn't have many photo's linked from PB but have since cancelled with Artic's help and now using imgur which is much easier to use.
Uploading is a doddle.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting doing it manually, but via an automated search and replace.

Please listen folks. Use the forum itself to host your images, there is NO NEED to use any 3rd party hosting site. Even if you sign up to imgur (or any other site) there is always the possibility they too will do something similar in future and then you will be back to square one, images hosted on the forum can ONLY be deleted by yourself or a Mod. It does look more complicated than it is, once you have done it a few times it's really easy. I have even added a .pdf file with the instructions so you can download it, print it out, then follow it as you post.

The problem with using the forum is the forum hasn't adapted to cope with the size of files modern technology generates.

An auto resize on upload function is common place elsewhere, no real reason why it shouldn't exist here.

Have you more details on doing this? By a script of some sort?
The images in a forum document don't seem to have an address available to edit, you get the image itself in the editor GUI. The only method I've got anywhere with is to add the '~original' extension to PB's quoted address. But that's the long and tedious way to do it and you need to note exactly which image to use. Once it's blanked out by PB it can be difficult to select the correct one again, especially where you have hundreds in the relevent PB folder.

PB also seems to have blocked the folder download system which allowed you to recover all your stuff. I can't belive that's legal. Anyone tried it recently? Maybe it's simply overloaded with leavers.

That's because it's a closed document.You need a mod to release access, or use the one in the active thread (if there's a copy there).

I have a handful of photo's hosted here but I wouldn't dream of putting up loads.

I would hate to hazard a guess at what their hosting costs are.

But presumably the forum does not have infinite storage available? If everyone did this, how long until it gets filled up?

Not if you only upload pictures relevant to your thread. I do see your point though.
