EML light on
I had the EML light come on and stay on for a couple of miles after starting my CDTi yesterday, but it went out after a couple of miles, when the engine was up to temperature. Car ran fine. I'll check the LP fuel sensor connection and MAF plug, but any obvious other things I should check ?
Is this an early indication of MAF going out of spec. ? I did notice in the hot weather last week, a slight hesitancy pulling away on a couple of occasions which I recall was an early symptom of the MAF going out of spec, from my experience with my previous 75CDT. The MAF was within spec when PhilT4 checked it about a year ago. Oh, and plenum/ECU is completely dry before someone suggests that ! All comments welcome Thanks Pete |
Even on the later cars the EML light only comes on for a few faults Pete; as well as the LP fuel pressure and MAF it will come on for a faulty throttle demand pot, HP rail pressure sensor fault, and if yours is an automatic, then an open circuit in either the boost temperature sensor or EGR solenoid circuits.
If the light comes on as a self check with key to position II you have the later type, and if not the only things that will light it up are LP fuel pressure, HP rail pressure sensor fault or a fault with the loud pedal. |
