Front sill panels
 

Tom, the sill repair man, sent me a mail yesterday with news that he’s even making front sill repair panels. I’m a bit sceptical as to their need as I’ve never heard of the need for front sections, rear yes almost every 75 I’ve looked at but the front? Interested in opinions from UK members as the climate here is a bit different. Promised Tom to send him a link to the thread with opinions/replies.

Wow yet again perfectly formed, Tom is a master at metal work and i am sure we will need these at some time, at least we now know they can be available if we do. i have seen some car with the sill dented / damage in that area so these would be a good repair for that. ie :mad:

Yes Steve, even my own 75 has a large dent around the front jacking point, but nothing that perhaps can't be pulled and filled. He also mentioned making the structures within the sills that support jacking. Personally I never use the sills for raising the car. I'm in the process of doing the timing belts on my daughter's V6, removed the wheelarch liner and was amazed at the inner state of the wheelarch and the meeting sill & front wing, almost no trace of rust including behind the plastic retainer where you'd normally have mud flaps - incredibly fresh for a 2002 car.

Great news, I have seen a couple of cars where the jacking points have rusted at the front.

I reckon Tom deserves a knighthood.

Not sure about requirement because so far I've not had any failing sill issues but they look like the real deal, great workmanship and skill, and that deserves support from our community so he's got my vote.
PS I've still got a 'rippled' N/S sill (result of a 70mph glancing coming together with a silly Polish gentleman who didn't look when moving lanes on the M56) starting 10" ahead of the 'B' pillar and extending to the base of the rear wheel arch so if it cannot be pulled out I'll need both a front and the rear sill repair panel

Looks good, ideal to keep these cars going. Like previous posts, rears may be more useful......especially for me!! So, if they’ve been manufactured I’d be interested to hear.:}

I had a front section of sill as well as the rears replaced by Tom a couple of years ago on my 75, the front needed doing as at some time the front had been jacked up but not under the jacking point opening up the seam letting water in, so although more unusual it does happen.
