Different fuel filling caps

56 plate diesel, fuel cap can be left behind or put into a bracket in the fuel filling flap

54 plate petrol, fuel cap has a cord attaching it to fuel flap but no bracket to secure it into when filling

The actual fuel filler caps are different as the diesel does not have a place for the cord

Both flaps look to be the same and you could combine the two systems
with the petrol and if the filler caps the same, you could also combine with the diesel

A bit of useless info for you :D

fuel caps

on the 04 diesel that i had there was a plastic fitting inside the fuel filler flap that the cap fitted into so it never left the car

My year 2000 diesel had both a cord and a bracket. The bracket went missing after a couple of years though, but when I replaced the ITP I found it laying in the bottom of the fuel tank - must have stuck to the filler cap and then dropped into the tank. :getmecoat:
